Job Description
Position Summary
The Vice President, Finance serves as the senior leader over Fund Accounting and Financial Planning & Analysis. This position is responsible for the integrity of fund-level financial reporting, internal controls, financial forecasting, valuations support, and strategic analytics.
This role leads the accounting close and reporting process while driving forward-looking financial strategy, cash planning, and financial performance analysis. The VP partners cross-functionally with Investments, Asset Management, Investor Relations, Operations, Treasury, and Corporate Accounting to ensure accurate reporting, scalable processes, and data-driven decision-making aligned with business objectives. This role also interacts with the corresponding reporting teams at our parent company.
Essential Job Functions
Fund Accounting & Reporting
- Lead the fund accounting functions, oversighting a team to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting
- Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, including GL oversight, reconciliations, and fund-level reporting
- Oversee preparation and presentation of monthly fund financials and performance metrics to executive leadership
- Maintain and enhance a documented system of accounting policies and procedures
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and corporate accounting policies
- Lead annual audit and tax return processes, coordinating with internal and external auditors
- Analyze and report on intercompany transactions
- Partner with corporate accounting and parent company finance teams to ensure reporting alignment
- Oversee ERP enhancements to improve reporting accuracy and operational efficiency
- Strengthen and maintain internal control frameworks to support growth and scalability
FP&A & Strategic Finance
- Lead the FP&A function to deliver high-quality forecasting, budgeting, and long-range financial planning
- Oversee cash forecasting in alignment with debt requirements and business plans, working closely with corporate accounting and asset management
- Coordinate internal valuation processes and support external valuations to ensure adherence to valuation policies
- Lead annual fund business plan development and quarterly reforecast processes
- Review investment performance, return metrics, and variance analysis against underwriting and prior periods
- Develop and maintain scalable fund financial models and consolidated reporting tools
- Oversee dashboard reporting and analytics to provide actionable insights to leadership
- Support asset management and investment teams with performance analysis and strategic modeling
- Provide data-driven insights to influence capital allocation and strategic decision-making
Leadership & Management
- Build, lead, and develop high-performing Fund Accounting and FP&A teams
- Establish clear performance expectations, training programs, and succession planning initiatives
- Develop team structure to support current and projected organizational growth
- Drive process improvement initiatives across accounting and finance functions
- Serve as cross-functional liaison to support company-wide initiatives
- Lead strategic ad-hoc analyses and special projects as required

- Accuracy and timeliness of monthly, quarterly, and annual fund reporting
- Successful completion of audits and tax filings
- Forecast accuracy and quality of financial projections
- Timely and accurate internal and external valuations

Required Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Real Estate, or related field required
- CPA Strongly preferred
Experience
- 10+ years of progressive experience in fund accounting, corporate finance, or real estate investment management
- 7+ years of leadership experience managing and developing high-performing teams
Skills & Competencies
- Real estate / property management experience required; SFR experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, fund structures, and valuation methodologies
- Experience leading audits and tax processes
- Advanced Excel skills and financial modeling expertise
- Experience working with financial ERP systems (Yardi, MRI or similar)
- Experience managing large data sets and analytics platforms (PowerBI experience preferred)
- Demonstrated ability to design and enhance scalable financial models
- Strong understanding of cash forecasting and debt alignment
- Superior written, verbal, and presentation skills
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and strategic thinking abilities
- Ability to operate effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced, growth-oriented environment
