Position Overview:
The Vice President, IT Infrastructure, Operations & Security is a senior leader accountable for the strategy, reliability, scalability, security posture, and day-to-day operations of the retailer's technology foundation across corporate offices, distribution centers, and stores. This role owns enterprise information security and drives a modern, cost-effective hybrid infrastructure (cloud + data center), resilient networks, store systems, endpoint management, IT service management (ITSM), and observability-enabling high-availability retail operations, peak-season performance, and rapid growth. The VP partners closely with the CIO, Application Development, Supply Chain, Marketing, Finance, and Store Operations to deliver business outcomes, operational excellence, and superior associate experience.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop high-performing teams across Infrastructure Engineering, Operations/NOC, Network, End-User Support, Store Deployment/Technical Services, Platform Services, and Information Security.
- Create a culture of accountability, customer obsession, safety/compliance, and continuous improvement; coach directors/managers on execution excellence.
- Orchestrate enterprise readiness for retail peak (e.g., holiday/Black Friday) and major promotions: freeze windows, capacity validation, failover drills, monitoring war-rooms, and rapid incident response playbooks.
- Define and execute the multi-year infrastructure, operations, and information security strategy aligned to retail growth, cost efficiency, and resilience objectives.
- Build and manage Opex/Capex budgets, forecast run-rate costs, and deliver year-over-year productivity gains.
- Negotiate and govern infrastructure, telecom, and managed-service contracts; enforce SLAs, KPIs, and remediation plans.
- Establish reference architectures, security standards, and guardrails for compute, storage, databases, middleware, networking (SD-WAN/Wi-Fi), and edge/IoT retail devices (POS, back office, handhelds, printers).
- Lead incident, problem, and change management to improve mean time to restore (MTTR), change success rate, and reduce incident recurrence.
- Serve as the executive owner for enterprise information security, including policy, governance, and operational execution.
- Ensure compliance with PCI-DSS, SOX, and other regulatory frameworks; lead remediation of audit findings and security incidents.
- Ensure reliable operations of store systems (POS, payments, back office, label/ticketing, handhelds, networking, cabling, printers), including new-store openings, relocations, and remodels.
- Oversee Field Services, NOC, and Help Desk to deliver fast, expert-level support and first-contact resolution for associates.
- Ensure resilient connectivity, failover designs, and vendor SLAs for telecommunications and payment networks.
- Complete any additional responsibilities and/or duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 15 years of progressive IT infrastructure/operations leadership; 8+ years leading large, multi-disciplinary teams in a Fortune 1000 multi-site retail or similarly scaled environment.
- Proven ownership of hybrid (cloud + data center) platforms, enterprise networks (SD-WAN/Wi-Fi), endpoint/MDM/UEM, and large store-systems footprints.
- Deep command of ITIL/ITSM disciplines, SRE principles, and modern observability.
- Demonstrated success in disaster recovery/business continuity planning and execution.
- Strong leadership in information security, including PCI-DSS, SOX compliance, vulnerability management, and incident response.
- Exemplary executive communication, stakeholder management, budgeting/forecasting, vendor/contract negotiation, and talent development.
- Retail payments/POS and distribution center technology exposure preferred.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Demonstrated ability to manage sensitive information with integrity and discretion.
Physical Requirements:
- Minimal travel to stores, offices, or distribution centers.
- Duties frequently involve being seated for extended periods of time and using computers.
- Ability to see, hear, and speak regularly.
- Ability to grip, reach, and pinch with arms and hands frequently.
- Ability to bend and twist occasionally.
