This role will define and lead the company's translational strategy in oncology and other disease areas, translating discoveries in epigenomic biology into clinically impactful blood-based diagnostics.

The VP will serve as a key member of the scientific leadership team, responsible for advancing the biological and clinical understanding of Precede's epigenomic platform and ensuring that insights generated across internal and collaborative research efforts translate into high-value diagnostic products and partnerships.

This individual will play a central role in shaping Precede's scientific direction, building strong collaborations with academic investigators and biopharma partners, and guiding the development of next-generation assays that improve drug development and patient care.

About Us

Founded in 2021, Precede Biosciences is a diagnostic company pioneering a minimally invasive, comprehensive epigenomics platform. Our technology has the potential to profoundly impact the research and development of new medicines and getting the right therapy to the right patient at the right time. More information on our company and platform can be found on our company website and in our recent publication in Nature Medicine.

Our team cares deeply about creating a place where folks can do their best work from the start and have intentionally created an environment that is defined by purpose, teamwork, and excellence. This means nurturing team spirit, facing challenges together, collaboratively solving complex problems, while also ensuring a strong focus on individual initiative, accountability, and delivery.

Who You Are

  • M.D. and/or Ph.D. in cancer biology, molecular biology, genomics, or a related field
  • Extensive experience in translational oncology research and biomarker development
  • Deep expertise in cancer biology, including signaling pathways, regulatory networks, tumor evolution, and mechanisms of therapeutic resistance
  • Experience applying multi-omic approaches-including epigenomics-to translational research or diagnostic development
  • Demonstrated success building and leading collaborative research programs with academic and industry partners
  • Strong publication record and experience presenting research at major scientific meetings
  • Proven ability to translate complex biological insights into clinically relevant hypotheses and applications
  • Strategic thinker with strong leadership capabilities and a bias toward action in a fast-moving scientific environment

What You'll Do

  • Identify and prioritize key biological questions that unlock new applications for blood-based epigenomic diagnostics
  • Develop indication strategies and guide the discovery of novel epigenomic biomarkers for disease detection, monitoring, and therapeutic response
  • Translate insights from cancer epigenomic pathways and regulatory networks into clinically actionable hypotheses and diagnostic strategies

Academic & External Research Leadership

  • With Translational Science leads, present Precede's platform and translational capabilities to academic and biopharma partners
  • Lead and oversee Precede's portfolio of collaborations, ensuring scientific rigor and strategic alignment with company objectives
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with leading academic investigators and key opinion leaders in oncology and epigenomics
  • Drive the design and execution of collaborative research studies that expand scientific understanding and inform internal assay development
  • Develop and execute a publication and scientific communication strategy, including peer-reviewed manuscripts, conference presentations, and scientific abstracts
  • Interpret multi-omic datasets generated through collaborative studies and translate findings into actionable biological and clinical insights

Support Diagnostic Test Development

  • Inform the clinical strategy and intended use for new diagnostic tests derived from Precede's epigenomic platform
  • Guide biomarker discovery, validation, and integration into assay development and product pipelines
  • Support algorithm development and cutoff determination through the integration of orthogonal biological and clinical datasets
  • Ensure translational insights inform assay optimization, clinical validation strategies, and product positioning

Translational Execution & Team Leadership

  • Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing translational science organization
  • Establish strategic priorities, goals, and operating processes for translational research programs
  • Ensure strong alignment across translational science, computational biology, assay development, regulatory, and business development teams
