At WHOOP, we're on a mission to unlock human performance and healthspan. WHOOP empowers members to perform at a higher level through a deeper understanding of their bodies and daily lives.

WHOOP is seeking a Vice President of Hardware Quality to lead the vision, strategy, and execution of quality across our global hardware ecosystem. This leader will be responsible for ensuring quality is embedded throughout the product lifecycle - from early product development through manufacturing, supplier management, and field performance. Working closely with Hardware Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations, Membership Services, Finance, and manufacturing partners, you will build scalable systems, drive operational excellence, and create a culture of continuous improvement that enables WHOOP to deliver exceptional products and member experiences at scale.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Define and execute a comprehensive quality strategy spanning product quality, manufacturing quality, supplier quality, field quality, and containment across the hardware lifecycle.

  • Build, lead, and develop a world-class global quality organization that enables operational excellence and unlocks growth and scale.

  • Partner closely with Hardware Engineering and Product Development teams to ensure robust quality planning, validation, and risk mitigation throughout new product introduction and sustaining engineering activities.

  • Establish quality metrics, operating mechanisms, and executive reporting frameworks that provide visibility into quality performance, risks, and opportunities across the supply chain.

  • Drive closed-loop quality improvement initiatives by connecting field performance, reliability testing, manufacturing data, supplier performance, and product design insights.

  • Lead supplier quality programs, including qualification processes, factory audits, corrective and preventive actions, and strategic supplier development efforts across a global manufacturing network.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 10+ years of leadership experience in hardware quality, manufacturing quality, supplier quality, or related functions supporting consumer electronics, wearable technology, or other complex hardware products.

  • Demonstrated success building and scaling high-performing quality organizations in fast-paced, high-growth environments.

  • Deep understanding of consumer electronics manufacturing processes, including electro-mechanical assemblies, PCB/SMT manufacturing, batteries, plastics, and critical component qualification.

  • Experience working with global manufacturing and supplier partners and managing quality across geographically distributed operations.

  • Expertise in quality systems and methodologies, including statistical process control, auditing, corrective and preventive action programs, root cause analysis, FMEA, Design for Manufacturing, Lean manufacturing, and Six Sigma principles.

  • Strong executive communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence decisions through data-driven insights and cross-functional partnership.

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality Engineering, or a related technical discipline.

  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 25% internationally to support manufacturing partners, suppliers, and quality initiatives.

  • Strong commitment to embracing and leveraging AI tools in day-to-day tasks, ensuring AI-assisted work aligns with the same high-quality standards as personal contributions.
