THE JOB:

The Vice President Category Management & Sourcing (Indirect Categories) is a key strategic leader responsible for leading the enterprise-wide strategy, development, and execution of category management and sourcing activities for all indirect spend categories. This includes oversight of category management teams that define market segmentation, supplier strategies, and innovation pipelines, as well as sourcing teams that execute tactical supplier engagement, negotiations, and contract management.

This role drives value creation through cost optimization, supplier collaboration, risk mitigation, and sustainability while ensuring alignment with business priorities and enterprise-wide procurement goals. The VP is a trusted business partner to internal stakeholders and a leader of high-performing teams focused on operational excellence and continuous improvement. The VP will develop and drive forward-looking category strategies that are align with enterprise goals.THE DAY-TO-DAY:

  • Define and lead comprehensive category strategies that optimize total cost of ownership, innovation, risk, and supplier value.

  • Conduct market and supplier analysis to identify trends, disruptions, and opportunities, and develop long-term category plans including supplier segmentation, value creation, and sourcing roadmaps.

  • Lead category management teams to identify strategic sourcing opportunities, consolidate suppliers, and align strategies with operational and financial objectives.

  • Oversee tactical procurement activities, including RFx management, negotiations, contract finalization, and compliance with governance, regulatory, and procurement policies.

  • Foster strong supplier relationships to drive collaboration, innovation, service excellence, and performance improvement.

  • Lead contract negotiation strategies with legal and sourcing teams to ensure competitive terms and risk mitigation.

  • Promote sustainability, diversity, ESG goals, and responsible sourcing practices across categories.

  • Build, mentor, and retain high-performing teams, set clear performance objectives, conduct talent reviews, and implement succession plans.

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on indirect spend strategy, market dynamics, and risk management, collaborating with Legal, Finance, Risk, Compliance, IT, and Operations to enhance sourcing efficiency, analytics, and supply chain resilience.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:

  • The ideal candidate holds a bachelor’s degree in business, Supply Chain, Finance, or a related field.

  • 12+ years of experience in category management and indirect sourcing within large, complex organizations.

  • They have a proven track record managing multiple categories, including technology, facilities, marketing, and professional services, while delivering cost savings, innovation, and risk mitigation.

  • They excel in leading cross-functional teams, managing senior supplier relationships, engaging stakeholders, and overseeing vendor and contract management.

  • Deep knowledge of technology and marketing services categories, combined with strong strategic sourcing and supplier consolidation skills, allows them to drive performance improvements.

  • The candidate demonstrates executive presence, is results-oriented, collaborative, and focused on building a high-performance culture.
