Compensation Range

The base pay scale for this position is $352,100.00 - $388,025.00. In addition, this position will be eligible for additional benefits consistent with the role. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be determined based on various factors, including but not limited to: scope of role, level of experience, education, accomplishments, internal equity, budget, and subject to Fair Market Value evaluation. The hiring range listed is a good faith determination of potential compensation at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future.

What you will be doing

The Vice President (VP) of Quality, Accreditation and Patient Safety serves as a senior executive leader responsible for the oversight of the quality and safety programs for HSS Enterprise including the development, strategy and execution of patient safety and quality initiatives that support the mission and vision of HSS. This role integrates enterprise quality, patient safety, accreditation, medical staff quality, value- based care, infection prevention and occupational health and safety into an operational model that drives an innovative experience and cohesive delivery in the coordination of care to ensure excellence in patient experience and patient outcomes, workforce sustainability and wellbeing, financial performance, and enterprise alignment.

The VP will provide transformational leadership to drive enterprise-wide efficiencies and improvements by collaborating and leading teams, standardizing, integrating, and aligning models of care to drive clinical excellence and variation management, streamlining processes and operations in quality, patient safety, and regulatory affairs; and leveraging technology and analytics to improve patient outcomes. This position will lead the evolution towards advancing innovation and digital transformation in quality improvement and paten safety. The VP will design value- based quality infrastructure and drive performance to surpass national leader performance. The VP will partner with HSS IT leadership to continuously seek opportunities for innovation to enhance patient care and outcomes and using data science or advanced analytics for quality transformation

Core Scope of Responsibility

  1. Quality Management and Patient Safety
  • Sets the vision and direction for HSS enterprise quality and patient safety initiatives aligned with organizational goals, broad priorities and value-based care initiatives
  • Oversee quality management and comparative analyses, developing and implementing strategies that enhance and optimize highest quality and safety care.
  • Oversee public reporting, pay-for-performance, national quality improvement initiatives and performance trends
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and engagement to optimize efficiency and effectiveness and ensure competitiveness to new market challenges
  • Drive innovation, digital transformation and leverage data-driven decision-making
  • Liaise with physician leadership and other key stakeholders on medical staff quality matters
  • Lead in developing, directing and coordinating innovative, multidisciplinary peer review and other medical staff quality committees
  • Supports behavior standards for medical staff
  • Proactively identifies potential risks, implements preventive measures, and ensures that quality and patient safety issues are addressed promptly to mitigate any adverse impact partner with Risk Management
  • Collaborates with HSS executive leaders and other stakeholders across all departments to integrate quality as a fundamental aspect of daily operations
  • Champions high reliability, a culture of safety and drives workforce safety and well-being.
  • Supports capital planning and technology investment decisions impacting quality and patient safety systems
  • Development of data visualizations of enterprise and local performance in quality data trends for local and system executives and the Board of Trustees
  1. Accreditation and Regulatory Requirements
  • Develop a strong regulatory enterprise team approach, including regional and onsite support for mock audits and regulatory and/or accrediting activity
  • Understand and accountable for compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements including local, state, federal, and accreditation organization
  • Ensure relevant regulations are integrated into policy and procedure and are effectively communicated and operationalized across the enterprise
  • Support Enterprise Policy & Procedure Governance Committee to develop and mature processes to guide clinical locations in best practices for timely policy and procedure development
  • Development of data visualizations of enterprise and local performance in regulatory and accreditation trends for local and system executives and the Board of Trustees
  • Oversee the development of actionable responses to audits, incidents, issues, and complaints, ensuring timely resolution and enterprise-wide learning
  • Provide leadership, collaboration and coordination of all activities required to sustain accreditation status
  1. Infection Prevention and Occupational Health and Safety
  • Oversee the development and success of HSS Infection Prevention and Control and Occupational Health and Safety programs to align with HSS goals and vision
  • Lead cultural transformation of safety practices to foster trust, communication and ownership at all levels
  • Establish consistent safety KPIs and reporting frameworks to track performance across owned and outsourced operations
  • Promotes the use of technology to streamline operations, enhance communication, and optimize work processes

  • Translate quality and patent safety strategy into measurable operational execution.
  • Build bench strength at the n-1 and n-2 levels.
  • Model fiscal accountability and data-driven decision-making.
  • Lead through ambiguity with clarity and composure.
  • Strengthen cross-functional collaboration with Service Lines, Periop, Clinical Support, Finance, HR, and IT.

  • Establish a fully integrated Quality and Patient Safety Model aligned to long-term CNE design
  • Surpass national performance in key quality indicators.
  • Optimize department staffing model while maintaining top-tier engagement and retention.
  • Build a sustainable leadership and education pipeline.
  • Lead continued regulatory readiness
