This position serves as a key leadership role within the our Accounting department, with primary responsibility for revenue accounting activities supporting the Viper royalty division. The Revenue Reporting Accounting Manager plays an active role in overseeing the day‑to‑day revenue accounting operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely reporting. The ideal candidate is a self‑starter who can work independently, exercise sound judgment, and apply strong decision‑making skills in a fast‑paced environment. This role requires deep knowledge of oil and gas non‑operated revenue accounting and the ability to collaborate effectively across the organization. The Revenue Reporting Accounting Manager reports to the Corporate Accounting Manager and oversees the Viper Revenue Reporting team.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee monthly revenue processing, accruals, and reporting activities, ensuring accurate revenue recognition in accordance with US GAAP and internal policies
  • Collect, validate, and analyze production, sales, and pricing data to ensure revenue accurately reflects underlying production, sales volumes, and contractual terms
  • Manage the month‑end close process for revenue, including accruals, variance analysis, general ledger reconciliations, and volumetric reporting
  • Ensure compliance with Sarbanes‑Oxley requirements, internal controls, and documented revenue accounting policies and procedures; serve as primary point of contact for internal and external auditors
  • Partner closely with Production, Land, Reservoir, and other cross‑functional teams to resolve missing or disputed revenue and support accurate reporting
  • Prepare revenue schedules, supporting documentation, and footnotes for quarterly and annual SEC filings, as applicable
  • Lead revenue accounting integration efforts for acquisitions and divestitures, ensuring seamless transition and accurate reporting
  • Identify and drive process improvement initiatives, including automation and workflow enhancements, while mentoring and developing revenue accounting team members

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • Minimum of eight (8+) years of experience in oil and gas accounting, with strong knowledge of revenue and general ledger accounting, particularly non‑operated revenue
  • Five (5+) or more years of experience in a similar or progressively responsible role
  • Experience with revenue accrual concepts and month‑end, quarterly, and annual close processes
  • Working knowledge of SAP
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate complex data and accounting issues
  • Proven ability to build and maintain effective working relationships across teams and levels of the organization, including auditors and management
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, evolving environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of cross‑functional oil and gas operations, particularly Land department activities and their integration with accounting
  • Experience with workflow optimization, automation initiatives, and adoption of new reporting technologies
  • Demonstrated ability to identify, recommend, and implement process improvements while ensuring SOX compliance
  • Flexibility and adaptability to support changing business needs and growth initiatives
