Job Description

Location: Goose Creek, SCSalary: $25.00 USD Hourly - $28.00 USD HourlyDescription:
The Special Education Teacher provides essential services in alignment with school district policies, focusing on case management and the development of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs). This role involves mentoring, implementing behavior intervention plans, and facilitating multidisciplinary team meetings to ensure students receive a free and appropriate public education. Depending on district needs, this role may also encompass responsibilities similar to a Process Coordinator, Academic Evaluator, or Teacher of Record.
This is a virtual, 1:1 high school position offering flexible hours.
Responsibilities:
  • Documentation: Prepare and maintain a variety of written materials, including progress reports, IEPs, notices of meetings, and prior written notices.
  • IEP Management: Develop, implement, and oversee individualized education programs tailored to specific student needs.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Communicate clearly and professionally with multidisciplinary team members, administrators, and parents to ensure quality service delivery.
  • Administrative Compliance: Complete comprehensive documentation and billing requirements in accordance with district policies and procedures.
  • Personnel Oversight: Supervise and provide direction to district personnel, such as paraeducators or new teachers, as required.
  • Research Application: Apply current research and educational theory to inform instructional programming and decision-making.
  • Team Participation: Participate in problem-solving teams and facilitate IEP meetings.
Qualifications & Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college.
  • Valid teaching license (or eligibility for licensure) with an appropriate subject area endorsement.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of specialized curriculum and individualized teaching methodologies for diverse learning needs.
  • Proficiency in using multi-media and assistive technology to enhance student learning.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills paired with excellent human relations skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain collaborative professional relationships.
