Job Description
Title: VP, Private Credit Risk AnalystOffice Status: Onsite New York, NY (5 Days)Base Salary: $180k - $200k + Discretionary BonusOverview:This is the sole second-line credit risk professional covering a newly established private credit portfolio within a rapidly growing, full-spectrum asset management platform. The portfolio spanning leveraged finance, sponsor finance, corporate credit, and asset-backed financings was recently acquired and represents a strategic growth priority for the firm, giving the right candidate true ownership and visibility from day one. This role is ideal for a seasoned private credit or leveraged finance professional who thrives in a lean, high-autonomy environment and is ready to build and shape a credit risk function rather than simply maintain one.Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the sole second-line risk professional covering a private credit portfolio, providing independent oversight across all credit exposures including LBOs, sponsor-backed deals, and asset-backed financings
- Analyze and approve private credit transactions, ensuring alignment with the firm's risk appetite and governance standards
- Monitor portfolio credit exposures on an ongoing basis, identifying emerging risks and recommending mitigation strategies proactively
- Review deal structures, covenants, and transaction documentation to optimize risk-adjusted outcomes
- Act as a primary risk partner for Portfolio Managers, sponsors, corporate banking contacts, and internal stakeholders across the platform
- Prepare and present credit memos, risk assessments, and portfolio reports to senior committees
- Stay current on market trends, sponsor activity, and sector developments to support forward-looking risk management
- Provide input on transaction structuring and documentation, with particular attention to covenant analysis and downside protection
- Support governance and regulatory reporting requirements as the portfolio scales
