Job Description
Title: VP Financial Institutions Credit Risk OfficerOffice Status: Onsite Salt Lake City, UT or Dallas, TXBase Salary: $190k - $210k + BonusABOUT THE ROLE This Vice President opportunity sits within the Credit Risk function of a leading global financial institution, offering broad coverage of Financial Institution counterparties across derivatives, loans, funding, and deposits. The role carries genuine credit authority approving transactions, defending risk ratings, performing credit underwriting on lending transactions, and presenting findings directly to senior management within a well-resourced, globally integrated credit risk team. It's an ideal fit for a seasoned FIG credit risk professional with deep knowledge of banks, CCPs, broker-dealers, insurance companies, BDCs, and finance companies who combines strong independent judgment with the ability to lead and develop junior team members in a fast-paced, multi-dimensional environment.RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assess the credit and financial strength of Financial Institution counterparties through comprehensive quantitative and qualitative fundamental credit analysis
- Determine and manage the firm's credit risk appetite across derivatives, loans, funding, and deposits for an assigned portfolio of FIG counterparties
- Approve derivative and funding transactions;ensure appropriate documentation and risk mitigants are in place to protect against default and minimize potential losses
- Perform credit underwriting of lending transactions;contribute credit recommendations and support to the firm's capital committee approval process
- Recommend and defend internal and regulatory risk ratings for counterparties and transactions as required
- Oversee, approve, and perform counterparty research reviews and analysis across the FIG portfolio
- Present findings, credit views, and recommendations to senior management;respond to questions relating to analysis performed
- Proactively monitor and assess counterparties and industry subsectors using market indicators, regulatory guidance, rating agency commentary, and counterparty surveillance;report relevant developments and their impact to senior management in a timely manner
- Lead due diligence discussions with company senior management teams;steer client and business negotiations to successful outcomes
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of junior credit professionals;provide guidance and supervision across daily responsibilities and longer-term development
