Job Description:

The WAE Pet Daycare Operations Associate will provide outstanding customer service to internal and external customers and top quality dog daycare services to drive revenue and maintain a safe, dog-friendly environment.

Job Responsibilities:

  • 55%- Ensure proper care of all pets within the facility. Monitor play groups of different breeds and sizes. Set up play areas and complete all playtimes on schedule based on playtime assignments. Help with dog evaluations if necessary. Keep play yards free from dog waste as soon as it happens.

  • 20%-Set up and give out all enrichment activities based on assignments, monitor dogs during enrichment activities, pick up all enrichment items and thoroughly clean items and work space. Feed lunch to those who request it.

  • 15%- Ensure that exceptional customer service and pet care is provided. Develop positive relationships with both pets and customers. Greet customers and take their pet(s) into daycare. Set dogs up in their assigned kennels. Feed breakfast to those who request it.

  • 5%- Ensure that the facility exceeds expectations in regard to cleanliness and safety. This includes keeping all areas clean and maintained, free from hazards, wet floors, defecation, etc. Wash, dry and fold laundry and wash dishes/enrichment toys.

  • 5%- Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

High School Diploma & 4 years of related veterinarian technician, dog daycare, or animal handling experience or Associates Degree with 2 years of related veterinarian technician, dog daycare, or animal handling experience.

Some veterinarian technician, dog daycare, or animal handling experience required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree and 1 year in dog care and handling, understanding dog body language to manage group play, time management and punctuality.

Experience with minimal dog training and bathing a plus but not necessary.

Special and Physical Qualifications:

Safety and Security Sensitive Job- Safety and security-sensitive positions are defined as those positions where any form of substance abuse may affect University activities through unsafe work behavior/performance or error in judgment; or where substance abuse could jeopardize the safety and well-being of employees, other personnel, or the general public, or cause significant damage to University property. This includes positions requiring firearms, access to controlled substances, handling hazardous material, operating heavy equipment or machinery, etc. These positions are subject to drug screens per PS-67/FASOP HR-04.

Essential Personnel- This position may be required to report to campus in times of emergency and/or closure per PS-18.

Requires standing, sitting, walking, bending, reaching (above shoulder), reaching (below shoulder), vision (near sight), vision (far sight), climbing, crawling, twisting, pushing/pulling, grasping, squatting, lifting more than 50 pounds, and lifting less than 50 pounds.

Must be available to work morning shifts (Hours- 7:00am-12:00pm)

May be required to come in outside of regularly scheduled work hours to address issues regarding the department. Must be able to answer phone calls or respond to messages after hours from management or students for issues regarding the department.
