Job Description:

This position is responsible for supporting warehouse operations by receiving, inspecting, storing, issuing, shipping, and delivering materials and equipment in a shipyard and industrial environment. The Warehouse Associate ensures inventory accuracy, maintains property accountability, and provides exceptional customer service while adhering to all company and government regulations.

Responsibilities include:

  • Receive, inspect, and verify inbound materials against purchase orders, packing slips, and other required documentation.
  • Unpack, examine, and route incoming shipments, identifying damaged or incorrect materials and reporting shortages or discrepancies.
  • Accurately identify materials by grade, specification, type, and part number.
  • Properly label, stage, and store materials in designated warehouse locations.
  • Pick, pull, stage, package, and prepare customer orders for shipment or delivery.
  • Load and unload inbound and outbound trucks safely using proper material handling equipment.
  • Operate sit-down and stand-up forklifts, pallet jacks, and other warehouse equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Prepare shipping documents, material transfer paperwork, and inventory records accurately.
  • Research inventory availability and material requests using computerized inventory management systems.
  • Sort and organize inventory on racks, shelves, and storage bins according to company procedures.
  • Process returned materials for replacement, repair, or credit.
  • Assist with physical inventories, cycle counts, and inventory audits.
  • Understand and comply with company property control procedures and inventory accountability requirements.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe warehouse, storage, and shipping areas.
  • Deliver materials to job sites and various work locations as required.
  • Work independently while managing priorities and meeting deadlines.
  • Follow all safety procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Perform other warehouse and logistics duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Previous warehouse, shipping and receiving, logistics, or inventory control experience preferred.
  • Forklift experience required (sit-down and stand-up); certification preferred or ability to obtain certification.
  • Experience working with computerized inventory management systems preferred.
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office and inventory software.
  • Strong mathematical and organizational skills.
  • Ability to accurately read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to inventory accuracy.
  • Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple tasks independently.
  • Excellent attendance, reliability, and work ethic.
  • Previous shipyard, government contracting, or industrial warehouse experience is a plus.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain access to shipyards and naval facilities (DBIDS clearance may be required).

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and reach throughout the workday.
  • Ability to safely operate forklifts and other warehouse equipment.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Must be able to wear required PPE, including safety glasses, steel-toe boots, gloves, hard hat, and high-visibility vest.
  • Ability to safely perform repetitive lifting and material handling tasks.

Work Schedule & Hours:

  • Full-time position averaging 40–56 hours per week.
  • Overtime and occasional weekends may be required based on operational needs.
  • Flexibility, reliability, and strong attendance are essential.
