The right candidate will be comfortable operating warehouse equipment, performing physical warehouse work, correcting problems in real time, and helping maintain an organized, safe, and productive operation.

Primary Responsibilities

Daily Warehouse Operations

  • Conduct daily GEMBA walks to identify priorities, backlogs, safety concerns, and operational issues.
  • Assign daily work and monitor employees for completion, accuracy, and accountability.
  • Support receiving, put-away, replenishment, picking, packing, shipping, and general warehouse duties.

  • Oversee yard activities and the movement of inbound and outbound products.
  • Maintain warehouse procedures, organizational systems, and previously implemented protocols.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for routine warehouse floor issues before escalating them to the Warehouse Manager.
  • Provide real-time updates regarding order status, staffing shortages, inventory issues, equipment downtime, and operational delays.

Training and Floor Leadership

  • Train new employees through hands-on demonstrations of proper picking, packing, scanning, receiving, and put-away procedures.
  • Coach employees and correct performance, quality, organization, and safety issues as they occur.
  • Lead by example and maintain a regular presence throughout the warehouse.
  • Help employees resolve mispicks, scanning problems, workflow interruptions, system errors, and packing-station issues.
  • Identify bottlenecks and personally assist the team in clearing them.
  • Help maintain employee accountability and consistent completion of assigned work.
  • Bridge communication between warehouse associates and management.

Inventory Management

  • Conduct cycle counts and inventory spot checks.
  • Physically investigate inventory discrepancies and help correct them at the source.
  • Verify put-away, bin-location, and slotting accuracy.
  • Coordinate with receiving and inventory employees regarding stock levels, shortages, damaged products, and slotting concerns.
  • Identify recurring inventory problems and report recommended corrective actions.
  • Ensure products are stored safely, accurately, and in their designated locations.

Safety, Equipment, and Organization

  • Enforce warehouse safety procedures by actively demonstrating safe work practices.
  • Conduct or verify pre-shift checks of forklifts, pallet jacks, scanners, packing stations, and other warehouse equipment.
  • Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, RF scanners, and other warehouse equipment as needed.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting on scanners, conveyors, computers, printers, and packing stations.
  • Report equipment damage, safety concerns, and maintenance needs promptly.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and compliant warehouse work areas.
  • Support 5S or similar workplace organization standards.
