Role Summary

The Fontana Warehouse & Yard Operations Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all warehouse, receiving, finished good shipments, yard, and material request operations supporting the Fontana manufacturing facility. This role ensures accurate receiving, inspection, inventory transactions, material staging, yard organization, and replenishment activities while maintaining alignment between physical inventory and ERP system accuracy.

The role also acts as the operational lead for all Fontana warehouse support functions including Receiving, Cable Cage, Tool Crib, VMI programs, inter-site material transfers, and outdoor yard material management.

This position partners closely with Production, Manufacturing Engineering, Material Planning, Inventory Control, and Supply Chain leadership to ensure material availability, proper storage practices, accurate inventory transactions, and safe/organized facility operations.

Core Responsibilities

  • Lead daily warehouse and yard operations for the Fontana facility
  • Coordinate workload and priorities across warehouse support functions
  • Ensure timely execution of receiving, put-away, staging, and replenishment activities
  • Monitor operational performance and resolve workflow bottlenecks
  • Ensure alignment between warehouse activities and production schedules
  • Support labor prioritization based on production demand and material urgency
  • Supervise all outbound shipments of finished goods
  1. Receiving & Inbound Material Management

Scope Includes:

  • Raw materials
  • Structural steel
  • Sheet metal
  • Supplier deliveries
  • Outside service returns (paint, blasting, fabrication, etc.)
  • Inter-site transfers and staging

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all inbound materials are properly received and documented
  • Validate packing slips, certifications, and shipping documentation
  • Ensure ERP transactions are completed accurately and timely
  • Coordinate inspection and material verification activities
  • Ensure all documentation is scanned and attached within ERP systems
  • Validate quantity, condition, and material identification accuracy
  • Escalate shortages, damages, or discrepancies immediately
  • Ensure proper material labeling and traceability standards are maintained
  • Ensure proper verification and inspection of inter site transfers and assignment to production lines
  1. Yard Operations & Outdoor Material Control

Core Objective

Establish and maintain a controlled, organized, and transactionally accurate outdoor yard operation.

Responsibilities

  • Own organization and operational control of all outdoor yard inventory

  • Ensure all yard materials have:

  • defined locations,

  • identification,

  • ERP visibility,

  • and physical accountability

  • Maintain material within yard layout standards and location mapping

  • Support implementation and sustainment of 5S yard standards

  • Coordinate with Manufacturing Engineering and Production leadership on:

  • space allocation,

  • staging zones,

  • traffic flow,

  • and storage optimization

  • Ensure outdoor storage practices protect material condition and traceability

  • Monitor aging inventory and unused material accumulation

  • Drive cleanup and organization initiatives across the yard

  • Inspect staging areas to ensure materials released to production are in designated areas and clearly marked for assigned project

  • Inspect and address unmarked and improperly staged materials and get them into alignment working with production leads

Operational Boundary

  • Production owns movement of active WIP/material already released into production
  • Yard Operations owns custody and staging of material prior to production release and consumption
  • Yard Operations acts as auditor for production released WIP being organized effectively within designated spaces
  1. Material Staging & Production Support

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate material staging activities for upcoming production demand in alignment with the Material Planning team's request to support production
  • Support development and execution of pick list requests
  • Ensure material is staged accurately and on time for production teams
  • Coordinate replenishment activities for production areas
  • Assist Material Planning and Production teams with shortage resolution
  • Support Kanban replenishment and floor inventory support activities
  • Ensure staging locations remain organized and transactionally accurate
  1. Cable Cage, Tool Crib & VMI Oversight

Responsibilities

  • Oversee cable cage inventory organization and material control
  • Ensure controlled issuance and replenishment processes are followed
  • Oversee tool crib accountability and organization
  • Coordinate vendor-managed inventory (VMI) programs
  • Ensure VMI suppliers maintain agreed inventory levels and service expectations
  • Monitor Kanban systems and replenishment effectiveness
  1. Shipment of Finished Goods
  • Ensure adherence to heavy load/unload procedures are followed
  • Coordinate load readiness with production, quality and logistics
  • Confirm all proper documentation is ready and reviewed with Driver during loading
  • Coordinate with Quality team for photos of secured load
