Job Title: Web Platform Engineer II

FLSA Status: Exempt

Job Family: Information Technology

Department: Development Operations

Location: Corporate Office (Fort Wayne, IN)

JOB SUMMARY• Responsible for complex web delivery platforms including building, maintaining, enhancing, and• supporting the web application infrastructure as directed by management in accordance with the• business needs of the company, providing coordination, troubleshooting, new solutions, research, and• training.

  • Design, create, and support the web development platform including code repositories,deployment tools, continuous integration, databases, and servers.
  • Responsible for web platform problems ensuring they are thoroughly researched and brought to asatisfactory conclusion.
  • Coordinate system maintenance activities of the web platform, focused on performance andstability, including monitoring, backup, upgrades, patching, high availability, and deploymentprocedures.
  • Research, analyze, and recommend web platform solutions and new technologies according tobusiness needs based on cost/benefit analysis.
  • Responsible for writing detailed technical and functional documentation including the scripting ofinstallation, configuration, and tuning of software and servers to support production anddevelopment environments for web applications.
  • Collaborate with security personnel to strengthen system security to protect against data loss.
  • Install, configure, and tune software and servers to support production and developmentenvironments for web applications.
  • Rapidly produce interim deliverables (such as technical specifications, prototypes, developmentenvironments, proofs of concept, etc.) in addition to the final production platform.
  • Coordinate upgrades for the web application platform, providing proper planning, testing,implementation, and purchasing support.
  • Establish and maintain Disaster Recovery documentation as required for business continuity assystems are added and changed.
  • Lead medium size projects including product evaluation, systems design, resource allocation,training, and implementation.
  • Maintain direct working relationships with technology vendors applicable to the web applicationplatform to stay abreast of changes and future direction.
  • Complete other projects as assigned.

  • Knowledge of web application platforms, databases, continuous integration, configurationmanagement, Linux, and other emerging web technologies is essential.
  • Demonstrated understanding and application of all aspects of application development projects,including analysis, documentation, testing and implementation.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain strong working relationships with teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct research, suggest, and implement new techniques and webplatform methodologies.
  • Must possess an understanding and appreciation of design principles with the ability to adhere torequired specifications during implementation.
  • Must be detailed-oriented with a demonstrated ability to accurately estimate and scopedevelopment support work.
  • Must possess solid writing, coaching, project management, and public presentation skills.
  • Development experience with modern web platform technologies is desired.
  • Effectively interface with external contacts, Brotherhood employees, managers, and departmentstaff members.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCEList Degree Requirement, Years' Experience, and Certifications

  • Associate’s degree in an IT-related field or equivalent degree required.
  • Must have three years of experience managing hardware, software, and/or communicationinfrastructure within a mixed-system environment including Windows servers, Linux and/or otherhosting platforms.
  • Must have one year of additional experience integrating and supporting modern web developmentand production platforms.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or Information Systems related field is desired.
  • Network or Systems Certifications (Red Hat, Microsoft, Cisco, IBM, etc.) desired.
  • Insurance background is desired.
