Starting Salary: $14.00 to $19.25 DOE & Certifications

Work hours: Approximately 40 hours per week from May through October (weather dependent).

Closing Date: Posting will close May 31, 2026, or when filled, whichever comes first.

General Purpose

Perform a variety of full performance duties as needed to help control noxious weeds throughout Bonneville County.

Supervision Received

Work under the general supervision of the Weed Control Superintendent, Assistant Weed Control Superintendent and Weed Control Administrative Assistant.

Supervision Exercised

None.

Essential Functions

Perform herbicide and pesticide application, dig or pull plants, and operate a weed eater or mower. Clean and perform basic maintenance on vehicles and spraying equipment. Mix chemicals and load spray equipment.

Ability to maintain regular, reliable patterns in work product and attendance according to Bonneville County's expectations.

Perform other job- related duties as assigned or required.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Educations and Experience:

None.

2. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Ability to perform basic math operations, operate a computer or tablet, and work independently without supervision or as part of a team.

3. Special Qualifications:

  • Must possess a valid Idaho driver's license.
  • Must own a sturdy pair of hiking boots.
  • May be required to obtain a professional applicator license (if 18 years old or older).

4. Work Environment:

Work is performed outdoors and may include adverse weather conditions and hazards involving the use of spraying equipment, hazardous chemicals, weed eaters and possibly tractor mowing equipment. Tasks require variety of physical activities, generally involving muscular exertion, related to walking, standing, stooping, sitting, and reaching. Occasionally work near moving mechanical parts or in outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes, toxic or caustic chemicals. Hand-eye coordination is necessary to operate equipment. Essential functions require talking, hearing, and seeing. Common eye, hand, finger dexterity exist. Mental application utilizes memory for details, verbal instructions, emotional stability, and critical thinking. Periodic travel required in normal course of job performance.

Lifting requirements require frequent lifting in excess of 40 pounds. The ideal candidate must be able to complete all physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.
