Job Description
MUST HOLD CURRENT CNA LICENSE
A Long Term Care (LTC) Weekend Ward Clerk provides essential administrative support, acting as the hub of the nursing unit to ensure smooth weekend operations. Key duties include answering call lights, managing phone calls/faxes, updating resident records, and assisting staff with clerical tasks like scheduling transportation or organizing charts.
Key Responsibilities
- Administrative Support: Greets visitors, answers phones, and routes calls/messages to appropriate nursing staff.
- Resident Care Support: Monitors, answers, and directs resident call lights.
- Record Management: Files documents in paper/electronic charts, maintains, and keeps charts organized.
- Logistics & Scheduling: Arranges transportation for appointments, manages the daily census, and updates dietary regarding admissions/discharges.
- Facility Safety: Monitors unit doors, enforces visitor policies, and maintains a clean, organized, and safe nursing station.
- Supply Management: Requisitions supplies and stocks resident areas.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Experience: Previous experience in a nursing home or healthcare environment is preferred.
- Communication: Professional verbal and written communication skills, especially for interacting with families, residents, and staff.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with data entry,, electronic medical records (EMR), and office equipment.
- Competencies: Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and knowledge of HIPAA confidentiality regulations.
- Schedule: Available to work Saturday and Sunday, including alternating weekends, in a fast-paced environment.
