At NIX Construction in Ogden Utah, welding is not just a shop job hidden behind four walls. Our welders are out in the field helping build real infrastructure that keeps projects moving and crews working safely. If you take pride in your welds, work hard, and want to be part of a crew that actually builds things that matter - keep reading.We are looking for a Welder who can safely work alongside heavy equipment operators, laborers, and foremen on underground construction projects. This role is hands-on, fast-paced, and built for someone who likes working outdoors, staying busy, and continuously improving their craft.Pay: $28 - $34/hrWhat You'll Be DoingPerform welding tasks on underground construction and utility projects
Safely work around heavy equipment, bore equipment, rigging operations, and active construction zones
Read and follow instructions from Foremen and crew leadership
Inspect tools, welding equipment, leads, and PPE before use
Assist with fabrication, repairs, and installation work in the field
Maintain a clean and organized work area and welding setup
Help identify safety concerns and correct hazards before work begins
Support the crew with additional labor tasks as needed
Learn new construction methods, tools, and equipment through hands-on work

Requirements7018 SMAW Certification required or ability to obtain certification1–3 years of welding experience preferred
Ability to safely work around heavy equipment and active excavation sites
Strong awareness of surroundings and jobsite safety practices
Ability to follow direction and work as part of a team
Reliable transportation and dependable attendance
Preferred QualificationsPrevious underground construction or heavy civil construction experience
Experience with rigging and field fabrication
Familiarity with construction tools and equipment
Additional welding certifications are a plus
Physical RequirementsStand and work for extended periods
Lift and carry materials weighing 50–100 lbs
Bend, kneel, crouch, climb, and work in uneven terrain
Work outdoors in all weather conditions including heat, cold, rain, snow, and wind
Safely work around dust, noise, fumes, and heavy equipment
