QUALIFICATIONS: YMCA Group Exercise Instructor Certifications or an accepted group exercise certification
BASIC FUNCTION: Responsible for the safety, education and leadership of Group Exercise class participants.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
- After each class, record the number of participants in each class in the Aerobic binder.
- Ensure that proper safety regulations and conditions are maintained.
- Maintain professional conduct and neat appearance consistent with the Group Exercise Dress Policy.
- Maintain an alert and observant behavior at all times. Instructors must ensure all participants receive the individual coaching and guidance appropriate for their fitness level.
- Ensure an enjoyable, efficient and physically challenging class for all participants and incorporating modifications.
- Be aware of the YMCA programs and schedules and willingly share the information with participants.
- Instruct classes in accordance with YMCA policies, including covering all class components and using proper teaching techniques.
- Promote the YMCA mission at all times.
- Suggest improvements.
- Attend meetings and training sessions as required by the YMCA and your supervisor.
- Perform other functions as assigned, relative to the welfare of the Association.
- Maintaining current certifications including CPR
