Wellness Director RN

Full Time

Responsibilities of a Wellness Director RN:

ADMINISTRATIVE

  1. Maintain a consistent level of professionalism with residents, family members and staff.
  2. Enforce compliance with all administrative and Nursing Policies and Procedures.
  3. Make accurate decisions and take appropriate actions especially with regard to changes in resident physical, mental or emotional status.
  4. Keep the Administrator informed of resident status and other related matters.
  5. Complete service care plans and keep them updated as needed.
  6. Update CMT/CNA assignments as necessary.
  7. Perform medication passes with CMT's as necessary.
  8. Set up and conduct care conferences with residents and families as needed.
  9. Monitor residents' medical records for accuracy and compliance with State regulations.
  10. Attend all required staff meetings as requested.
  11. Review medication sheets and physician order sheets monthly and as needed.
  12. Complete quarterly level of care assessments.
  13. Complete all residents' non-skilled treatments as ordered.
  14. Receive and documents any physicians' orders as required.
  15. Chart appropriately on residents in the nurse's notes.
  16. Complete necessary incident reports and notify the families and physicians of an incident.
  17. Administer medication when needed.
  18. Complete pre-admission assessments as required.
  19. Follow up on any recommendations by the physicians and consultants.

PERSONNEL

  1. Recruit, interview and select nursing department personnel.
  2. Assure that appropriate identification documents are presented prior to employment and that such records are maintained in the staff's personnel records.
  3. Determine departmental staffing requirements as necessary to meet nursing department's needs. Assign a sufficient number of nursing personnel hours for each day.
  4. Schedule department work hours (including vacation and holiday schedules), personnel, work assignments, etc.
  5. Develop a staffing plan for coverage during your absence from the facility.
  6. Develop and maintain written job descriptions and perform evaluations for nursing personnel.
  7. Discipline nursing personnel as necessary.
  8. Terminate employment of personnel when necessary, documenting and coordinating such actions with the Administrator.
  9. Assure that personnel are performing required duties and appropriate nursing procedures are being followed.

STAFF TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT

  1. Develop and participate in the planning, conducting, scheduling, etc., of in-service training classes, on-the-job training and orientation programs for nursing personnel.
  2. Attend and assist with all in-service education programs.
  3. Reinforce in-service education programs and assure staff attendance.
  4. Participate in programs of continuing education (seminars, training programs, etc.)
  5. Assure that all nursing personnel attend required training programs as established by Health Department regulations.

SAFETY AND SANITATION

  1. Inspect work areas as needed.
  2. Assure that nursing personnel follow established safety regulations in the use of equipment and supplies at all times.
  3. Assure the cleanliness of all work areas, maintain an awareness of potential hazards and make recommendations to the Administrator.

EQUIPMENT AND SUPPLIES

  1. Recommend to the Administrator the equipment and supply needs of the department.
  2. Make periodic rounds to check equipment and to assure the necessary nursing equipment is available and working properly.
  3. Maintain inventory and records according to established policies.

Qualifications for a Wellness Director RN:

  • RN graduate from an accredited registered nursing program.
  • Hold a current Rhode Island RN License
  • Minimum of one year experience in a clinical hospital setting, assisted living, skilled nursing facility or home health care agency.
  • Ability to walk, stand, sit and bend intermittently.
  • Must be able to lift in excess of 50 pounds and physically assist residents
