Wintel Lead

Location: Fort Mill, SC (Onsite)

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Wintel Lead with 10+ years of expertise in enterprise Windows infrastructure, virtualization, and cloud technologies. The ideal candidate will possess strong hands-on experience with Windows Server, Active Directory, VMware, SCCM, and hybrid cloud environments (Azure and AWS).

This role requires advanced troubleshooting skills, infrastructure architecture expertise, and the ability to design, implement, and support large-scale enterprise infrastructure environments while ensuring security, performance, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Windows Server & Infrastructure Engineering

  • Design, implement, and manage Windows Server environments (2012, 2016, 2019, and 2022).

  • Administer Active Directory, including replication, FSMO roles, Group Policy, and schema management.

  • Support and troubleshoot DNS, DHCP, DFS Replication, File Server Clusters, IIS, and certificate services.

  • Resolve authentication issues involving Kerberos and NTLM.

  • Perform advanced troubleshooting using Sysinternals, Performance Monitor, and Event Viewer.

VMware Virtualization

  • Manage VMware ESXi hosts, vCenter, clusters, HA/DRS policies, and resource pools.

  • Perform capacity planning, datastore optimization, and virtualization performance tuning.

  • Troubleshoot host isolation, VM performance, storage latency, and virtualization issues.

  • Design VM templates, lifecycle management processes, and snapshot strategies.

Cloud Infrastructure

  • Support hybrid cloud environments using Azure and AWS.

  • Manage Azure Virtual Machines, Azure AD Connect, network security groups, backups, and identity synchronization.

  • Administer AWS EC2 instances, IAM, VPC, EBS snapshots, and AMI lifecycle management.

  • Support infrastructure migration initiatives between on-premises and cloud platforms.

SCCM & Endpoint Management

  • Design and manage SCCM infrastructure, including Primary Site Servers, Distribution Points, Management Points, and Software Update Points.

  • Develop software deployment strategies and automated patch management.

  • Build and maintain operating system deployment task sequences.

  • Troubleshoot SCCM client health, boundary configuration, and content distribution issues.

Infrastructure Security & Compliance

  • Implement Microsoft and CIS security baselines.

  • Manage PKI, SSL certificates, and secure remote administration.

  • Monitor security logs and audit trails.

  • Ensure infrastructure patch compliance and vulnerability remediation.

Monitoring & Performance

  • Configure and maintain monitoring solutions such as SCOM, Dynatrace, and SolarWinds.

  • Perform root cause analysis for infrastructure incidents.

  • Analyze performance across operating systems, storage, networking, and virtualization layers.

Required Qualifications

Experience

  • 10+ years of enterprise infrastructure engineering experience.

  • Strong expertise in Windows Server administration and enterprise infrastructure management.

  • Experience managing large-scale virtualization environments.

  • Experience supporting hybrid cloud environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced PowerShell scripting.

  • Understanding of networking concepts, including VLANs, routing, and firewall fundamentals.

  • Experience with infrastructure automation tools such as Terraform or Ansible.

  • Knowledge of ITIL processes and IT service management.

Soft Skills

  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities.

  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.

  • Ability to lead infrastructure initiatives and collaborate across cross-functional teams.

  • Experience handling critical production incidents and driving issue resolution.
