JOB TITLE:

Production Shop Assistant

Job location: Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts

Pay rate or range: $10.00

JOB PURPOSE:

Production Shop Assistant

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist with basic scenic construction and carpentry; repair and maintenance of production equipment and materials; painting and related production work; stocking and organizing materials; maintaining inventory; and assisting with lighting, sound, rigging, cabling, and other production needs as appropriate to the student's skills and training.

COMPETENCIES:

Ability to follow instructions and work collaboratively as part of a production team. Basic familiarity with carpentry, construction, or theatrical production practices preferred.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma or Equivalent

Must be eligible, have received and accepted work study award through Student Financial Aid for the applicable semester and/or academic year.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Intermediate experience with carpentry, construction, painting, rigging, cabling, or related production areas is desirable.

EDUCATIONAL BENEFITS APPLICABLE TO CAREERS:

Theatre and Dance majors, particularly students pursuing Design, Production, and Management, would be an ideal fit because the position provides applied experience in theatrical production practices. The position could also provide relevant experience for students in other majors involving construction, design, technical systems, fabrication, or related fields.

WORK LOCATION:

On-campus: This position provides vital support to campus customers, and the successful candidate must be available to work and perform essential job functions on campus, understanding our location is at 7,220 feet above sea level.
