Workday Financial Specialist

Purpose of Role

The Workday Financials Specialist is responsible for independently configuring and deploying enhancements in Workday Financials and PSA. This role delivers enhancements, configures Workday for business processes, manages bi-annual feature releases, handles complex support issues, and contributes to the stability and evolution of the Workday platform.

This role works closely with the Workday squads and other product squads integrating with Workday.

Key responsibilities

Application Engineering

• Configure and deploy Workday enhancements, maintaining a culture of technical excellence, quality delivery, and continuous learning.
• Deliver scalable and maintainable Workday solutions based on business requirements.
• Manage module-specific updates during Workday's bi-annual releases.
• Comply with the consistent use of standards, design patterns, and tools that align with Aurecon's broader technology architecture and principles.
• Contribute to ensuring code quality, maintainability, and performance, and ensure robust peer review and development workflows.
• Ensure that production issues are addressed promptly, with thorough root cause analysis and long-term fixes.
• Ensure that individual and team KPIs and SLAs are achieved.
• Collaborate with business users to clarify requirements and test solutions.
• Maintain documentation and support knowledge sharing within the team.

• Engaging with the business and IT stakeholders to address complex business problems through application solutions.
• Ensuring clear and effective communication of technical solutions to both technical and nontechnical audience.

Essential Skills and Experience

• Hands-on experience in enhancement and support of Workday Financials and PSA including Financial Management, Financial Accounting, Customer Accounts and Contracts, Procure to Pay, Time Tracking, Expenses, Projects and Project Billing.
• Experience in Financial Reporting and Adaptive Planning is a plus.
• Strong understanding of business concepts and business processes i.e. Accounting, Corporate Finance, Project Finance
• Strong experience in Workday configuration such as business process creation, custom objects, validations and security configuration.
• Strong understanding of software development standards, coding practices, and IT Service Management (ITSM) processes, ensuring high-quality, maintainable, and scalable solutions.
• Proficient in Agile Scrum methodologies, with a track record of delivering iterative value and adapting to evolving business needs.
• Strong work ethics with high sense of integrity and accountability.
• Strong attention to detail and a keen desire to deliver the highest quality solutions.
• Excellent ability to create high quality functional/technical documentation and technical requirements gathering skills.
• Excellent communication skills to technical and non-technical audience.
• Excellent collaboration skills and has worked with a diverse set of stakeholders.
• Actively stays current with emerging technologies and demonstrates a commitment to ongoing professional development.
• Strong experience in application development and support in a Global Shared Services set up

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or any related discipline
• With at least 3 years' experience in Workday development and support, with solid 2 years' experience in configurations or enhancements.
• Workday certification is desired.
