  • Pay: $49.21 – $54.30
  • Contract Type: 1-year base and 4, 1-year option periods
  • Schedule: Eight (8) hour shift, nine (9) hour shift, or ten (10) hour shift
  • Location: Portland, OR
• Requirements: 
  • U.S. Citizen or Green Card holder
  • Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia
  • Certified Diagnostic Radiologic Technologists by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and must be certified for their specialty (R).
  • Certified in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)
  • 2+ years' of experience in the operation of diagnostic radiology equipment under the direction of a Radiologist or other medical officer to produce radiographic studies/images used in medical diagnosis and treatment
  • Must have worked within a hospital lab setting as an X-Ray Tech in the last six months.

What does a typical day look like for the X-Ray Technologist?

You will:

• Shifts: Eight (8) hour shift, nine (9) hour shift, or ten (10) hour shift
• Overtime, On-Call, and call-back duty for these positions may be required on occasion and in emergent situations
• Prepares patients for radiologic procedures
• Takes X-rays following established procedures for patient care and safety, which involves setting up and operating radiographic equipment used in the medical diagnosis and/or treatment of patients and includes implementing infection control procedures for the work area
• Selects proper ionizing factors for radiological diagnosis
• Adjusts/sets radiographic controls. Positions patients and takes X-rays of specific parts of the patient's body as requested by physicians
• Check X-rays for clarity of image, retaking when needed
• Selects and sets technical factors using established criteria
• Enters required data into the Decentralized Hospital Computer System (DHCP)
• Maintains records of patients treated, examinations performed, views, images taken, and settings used

What qualifications do you look for?

• Authorization to work in the U.S. permanently, without sponsorship
• Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia
• Certified Diagnostic Radiologic Technologists by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and must be certified for their specialty (R)
• Certified in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)
• 2+ years of experience in the operation of diagnostic radiology equipment under the direction of a Radiologist or other medical officer to produce radiographic studies/images used in medical diagnosis and treatment
• Must have worked within a hospital lab setting as an X-Ray Tech in the last six months
• Provide evidence of current professional liability insurance
• Be available to work for the VA at least six (6) months after the starting date
• Previous experience with the VA is a plus

If selected, candidates will need to complete credentialing and onboarding requirements consistent with VA medical staff processes.
