Job Description
Position Summary:The Custodian is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and security of areas assigned to the YMCA program by monitoring program areas and providing required support to ensure efficient and effective program operations.
Essential Functions / Job Duties:
• Arranges furnishings and equipment for the purpose of providing adequate preparations for meetings, classroom activities and special events.• Moves furniture, folds and unfolds chairs as required.• Ensures cleanliness on school grounds (including, but not limited to, picking up paper and debris).• Safeguards premises by locking and unlocking facilities.• Sweep, mops and buffs the cafeteria and other YMCA service areas.• Performs assigned work for the purpose of assisting with the timely and satisfactory completion of special projects.• Responds to safety and/or operational concerns (e.g. alarms, facility damage, etc.) to ensure appropriate action take place for proper resolution. • Performs any and all custodial cleaning duties as may be assigned.• Attends to emergencies when necessary.• Performs other duties as assigned.• Supervises school based service projects for actively participating YMCA students to earn service hours for graduation.

Qualifications, Skills and Abilities / Position Requirements:Education and Experience:• High school diploma or GED preferred.• Minimum of one year custodian experience.• Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.Position Profile• Willingness to help• Responsive to the needs of others• Care about the look and cleanliness of the facilities
