Employment Status: Part-Time, Non-Exempt (Hourly)

Compensation: $19.29 per hour, plus $56.00-$122.00 per class taught, depending on class format, attendance, and business needs.

Work Schedule: Variable schedule including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays based on member demand and Club operations.

Position Summary

The Yoga Instructor is responsible for providing safe, engaging, and professional group fitness classes and private instruction that promote member wellness and enhance the overall fitness experience at Columbine Country Club.

Reporting to the Director of Fitness, this position delivers instruction for participants of varying fitness levels while maintaining a positive, inclusive, and supportive environment. The instructor demonstrates sound teaching techniques, prioritizes participant safety, and provides exceptional member service while supporting departmental operations and wellness programming.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead yoga group classes, specialty workshops, and private training sessions.
  • Modify exercises and provide appropriate progressions for participants of varying abilities and experience levels.
  • Maintain a safe environment by monitoring participant form, technique, and overall well-being.
  • Ensure all participants have completed required liability waivers before participation.
  • Record attendance accurately to support member billing and departmental reporting.
  • Arrive prepared and on time for all scheduled classes and sessions.
  • Maintain a professional appearance consistent with Club standards.
  • Provide outstanding customer service to members and guests.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe studio environment before and after each class.
  • Report accidents, injuries, equipment concerns, or unsafe conditions promptly to the Director of Fitness.
  • Complete required documentation accurately, including charge tickets and participant acknowledgments.
  • Assist with wellness events and departmental programming as requested.
  • Coordinate substitute instructor coverage when unable to teach a scheduled class, subject to department approval.
  • Communicate effectively with members, coworkers, and management.
  • Participate in required meetings, trainings, and safety programs.
  • Perform other duties assigned to support Fitness Department operations.

Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Previous experience teaching yoga classes.
  • Experience providing instruction to participants with varying fitness levels and abilities.

Required Certifications

  • Current Yoga Teacher certification (minimum 200-hour certification) Current Adult CPR/AED certification (or ability to obtain within a specified period after hire).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a private club, resort, luxury fitness center, or hospitality environment.
  • Experience teaching both group fitness classes and private instruction.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of yoga principles, anatomy, movement mechanics, and injury prevention.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to motivate and engage participants.
  • Commitment to providing exceptional member service.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment regarding participant safety.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a team.

Physical Requirements

This position regularly requires the ability to:

  • Demonstrate yoga movements.
  • Stand, walk, bend, kneel, stretch, and lift fitness equipment weighing up to approximately 30 pounds.
  • Remain physically active for extended periods while instructing classes.
  • Work in a fitness studio environment with moderate noise levels.

Compensation:

$19.29 per hour, plus $56.00-$122.00 per class taught, depending on class format, attendance, and business needs.
