This posting will remain open continuously until filled.
This is a part-time position, with flexible hours. Occasional evening hours may be required. Please note that the Commission convenes the second Monday of most months at 6:30 p.m., and attendance at these meetings is expected.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Oversees the Town's Youth Commission and related programming. Provides guidance to members of the Commission.
- Coordinates with various Town staff and elected officials in implementing Youth Commission initiatives.
- Works with school officials in marketing the program, ensuring participation.
- Communicates via email/phone with participants and parents.
- Assists with budget preparation for the Youth Commission and oversees related administration.
- Orders and purchases supplies.
- Creates analytics to determine success of programs. Presents findings and recommends program improvements.
- Participates in interviews for Youth Commission members.
- May plan field trips and other activities, including providing transportation for participants by driving a 15-passenger van.
- Ensures safety practices and administers First Aid and CPR when needed.
- Serves as a member of committees and teams as assigned.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required.
Minimum Qualifications:
An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.
Education: An Associate's Degree in a related field. A Bachelor's Degree is preferred.
Experience: At least two (2) years of experience working with youth population, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Licenses and/or Certifications Required:
- CPR and First Aid Certifications; or the ability to attain within 30 days of hire
- Valid Driver's License
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of principles and practices in working with youth population.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and make independent decisions in accordance with established Town policies and procedures.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisor, coworkers, participants and parents/guardians.
- Skill in working effectively with elected officials, department directors, representatives of other agencies, Town employees and the general public.
- Ability to maintain a cooperative attitude and a high degree of flexibility with changing priorities.
- Ability to handle sensitive situations with confidentiality, tact and diplomacy.
- Skill in both written and oral communications for effective expression and clarity.
- Skill in performing CPR and first aid.
Physical Demands:
- Sedentary work for long periods of time
- Occasional physical work lifting no more than 10 pounds
- Occasional lifting, carrying, walking and standing
- Occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; and stop, kneel, crouch or crawl
- Frequent hand/eye coordination to operate personal computer and office equipment
- Vision for reading, recording and interpreting information
- Speech communication and hearing to maintain communication with employees and citizens
Work Environment:
- Works primarily in a clean, comfortable environment
Equipment Used:
- Uses standard office equipment including a personal computer system
- This position may require the incumbent to occasionally use personal equipment (e.g. vehicle, cell phone, tools, etc.) in the course of their employment.
Must satisfactorily complete a criminal background check prior to commencing employment.
