Job Description
Private Duty Caregiver / Sitter / Behavioral Aide24/7 Supervision | Youth in State Custody | De-Escalation Focused4-Week Initial Contract | Extensions Likely | Rapid Start (Within 2 Weeks of Offer)Calm in chaos. Life-changing in impact.We are seeking dependable, emotionally intelligent caregivers to provide continuous supervision and behavioral support for at-risk youth in state custody. This is not a passive sitting role. It requires active engagement, strong de-escalation skills, and unwavering reliability.Assignments may take place in hospitals, residential programs, offices, emergency placements, or community-based settings. Caregivers may serve as Sitters, CNAs, Behavioral Aides, or Nurses, depending on the needs identified by the referring agency.Reliability Is Non-NegotiableBecause these youth require critical, uninterrupted supervision, coverage gaps cannot occur.We are committed to supporting healthy work-life balance and we expect candidates to only accept assignments they can fully commit to.To protect the youth and the team:
- Schedules are assigned carefully to minimize conflicts
- Secondary employment must be disclosed prior to onboarding
- Candidates should not accept assignments if outside commitments will interfere
- Repeated or last-minute call-ins will not be tolerated due to the critical nature of coverage
- Initial contract length: 4 weeks
- Strong likelihood of extension based on performance and need
- Candidates must be able to start within 2 weeks of offer
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) certification is strongly preferred and will be required to obtain if candidate does not currently possess
- Provide around-the-clock supervision based on individualized care directives
- Never leave youth unattended unless written approval is obtained from the authorized agency representative
- Maintain a calm, structured, and trauma-informed environment
- Utilize non-physical de-escalation strategies to prevent crisis
- Assist with ADLs, hygiene, routine care, and daily structure
- Reinforce positive behaviors and model appropriate boundaries
- Recognize early warning signs of escalation and intervene appropriately
- Maintain accurate records of:
- Clients served
- Hours worked
- Services rendered
- Monthly reporting submissions
- Report behavioral concerns or unmet needs to the assigned caseworker
- Immediately report serious incidents or allegations through required reporting channels
- Follow all mandated reporting laws and professional standards
- Remaining composed during verbal or behavioral escalation
- Redirection without confrontation
- Firm, respectful boundary setting
- Emotional regulation in high-stress moments
- Protection of the youths dignity at all times
- Age-appropriate outings approved by the agency and caseworker to support social development
- Transporting youth to personal residences
- Bringing unauthorized individuals to service locations
- Providing or purchasing alcohol or tobacco
- Corporal punishment, intimidation, profanity, or extreme discipline
- Minimum age: 18
- High school diploma or GED (required)
- CNA, behavioral health, healthcare, or caregiving experience preferred
- Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays, and extended shifts as needed
- Strong emotional regulation and de-escalation skills
- Ability to remain alert and attentive during extended shifts
- No history of substantiated child abuse or neglect
- Must pass:
- Criminal background check
- Child abuse/neglect registry checks
- Drug screen
- Must meet all state and agency clearance requirements prior to assignment
- Valid drivers license
- Clean driving record
- Reliable transportation
- Active auto insurance meeting state minimum coverage requirements
- Maintain strict professional boundaries
- Demonstrate patience, empathy, consistency, and sound judgment
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and caseworkers
- Adhere strictly to all reporting and safety protocols
