Ochsner Health and internationally renowned orthopedic surgeon James R. Andrews, MD have created The Ochsner Andrews Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine Institute . Building upon Ochsner’s award-winning sports medicine program, which includes highly trained sports professionals like athletic trainers, physical therapists, fellow-trained surgeons, performance training coaches, primary care and physical medicine and rehabilitation sports physicians, Dr. Andrews brings his expertise, research, and education platform , newly launched as Andrews Medicine, to strengthen the best-in-class care for patients and athletes across Louisiana and Mississippi. For more than 15 years, the nationally and internationally recognized Ochsner Sports Medicine Institute (OSMI) led by Deryk Jones, MD treats more than 30,000 athletes a year . The team includes 16 orthopedic surgeons fellowship trained and subspecialty certified in sports medicine as well as 17 sports medicine physicians . These experts work in direct concert with 160 highly skilled athletic trainers and a dedicated team of performance training coaches and sports medicine assistants that support student athletes at more than 100 high schools, colleges, and club organizations. The OSMI team is collaboratively integrated with Ochsner Therapy & Wellness and its 35 physical therapists with advanced orthopedic and sports specialties. The Greater Waco YMCA is hiring  Youth Sports Officials . This is a part-time position.  We are offering $250 bonus for new staff! The Sports Official officiates assigned games as well as assisting with the operations of assigned leagues and programs. Responsible for courteous relations with all members, program participants, and visitors.  Essential Functions: Officiate all assigned games. Must possess some knowledge of rules and policies in various sports such as basketball, volleyball, soccer, football and baseball. Keep playing areas safe and clear of obstructions during game times. Take part in demonstrations, clinics, or exhibition games, as needed. Serve as scorekeeper as needed. Assist in set-up and take-down of sports equipment as needed. Arrive 5-10 minutes before shift starts and be prepared to stay until the last participant is gone. Be ready to initiate activities, participate in activities and interact with participants.  Maintain appropriate records as required by Director.  Know Emergency procedures and report incidents or injuries completing reports as required.  Must be able to supervise and work positively with large groups.  Qualifications: Must possess some knowledge of rules and policies in various sports such as basketball, baseball, football, soccer and volleyball. Have a general knowledge of fitness and wellness. Have strong communication and organizational skills. Weeknights and weekend availability are required. Must be able to commit to at least 2 seasons in sports. Ability to maintain a calm, professional presence when handling stressful or difficult situations. Have a neat appearance and be well-groomed. Must possess a High School Diploma or equivalent. Be CPR/AED and First Aid certified or willing to be certified within first 30 days of employment. Be willing to uphold the YMCA's core values of caring, honesty, responsibility respect, and faith. Be able to pass reference check, pre-employment drug screen, background check and sex offender check. Ochsner Health is seeking a Board Certified/Board Eligible Orthopedic Sports Medicine Physician in Slidell, Louisiana to join its expanding, multi- specialty group practice.

Ochsner Health and internationally renowned orthopedic surgeon James R. Andrews, MD have created The Ochsner Andrews Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine Institute. Building upon Ochsner’s award-winning sports medicine program, which includes highly trained sports professionals like athletic trainers, physical therapists, fellow-trained surgeons, performance training coaches, primary care and physical medicine and rehabilitation sports physicians, Dr. Andrews brings his expertise, research, and education platform, newly launched as Andrews Medicine, to strengthen the best-in-class care for patients and athletes across Louisiana and Mississippi.

For more than 15 years, the nationally and internationally recognized Ochsner Sports Medicine Institute (OSMI) led by Deryk Jones, MD treats more than 30,000 athletes a year. The team includes 16 orthopedic surgeons fellowship trained and subspecialty certified in sports medicine as well as 17 sports medicine physicians. These experts work in direct concert with 160 highly skilled athletic trainers and a dedicated team of performance training coaches and sports medicine assistants that support student athletes at more than 100 high schools, colleges, and club organizations. The OSMI team is collaboratively integrated with Ochsner Therapy & Wellness and its 35 physical therapists with advanced orthopedic and sports specialties.

Ochsner provides the highest level of specialized care in the Gulf South, including joint replacement, a pediatric orthopedic program, orthopedic oncology and more. The new Institute will support Ochsner’s continued growth and reputation as the Gulf South’s leader of specialized orthopedic care for patients and athletes.

Position Highlights:

  • This physician will cover General Orthopedic and Sports Medicine.
  • We currently have 5 Orthopedic Surgeons that focus on subspecialities and Sports Medicine as well as General.
