General Summary:

  • Under the general guidance of General Counsel, the Director of Insurance and Risk plays a key role  in planning and executing Sheppard Pratt’s insurance and risk management strategy.
  • The Director of Insurance and Risk utilizes in-depth knowledge of insurance and risk management disciplines and applies analytical thinking to support program executive, risk mitigation, and regulatory adherence.
  • The role collaborates across functions to ensure functional continuity, financial accuracy, and operational excellence.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Legal, Finance, Accounting, Risk Management or similar field required. Master’s degree (e.g., MSRI) preferred.  
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in corporate insurance and risk management, preferred experience in health care industry 
  • Extensive knowledge of business insurance function and best practice department processes.  
  • Risk Management certification is preferred.
  • Proficient with MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) 
  • Superior organization, project management skills and attention to detail 
  • Confidence with presenting data and advising leadership on data driven recommendations
