Qualifications and Requirements: Minimum 3 years’ previous insurance industry experience required, or equivalent financial services/credit union experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities have been acquired Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with clients and partners. The Position This is an excellent opportunity for lawyers with experience handling insurance coverage/coverage litigation matters to work with a collaborative group of experience coverage/coverage litigation attorneys who handle cases in California and throughout the US, working with domestic and foreign insurers. Qualifications JD from an ABA accredited law school Admitted to practice in the state of California 3-8 years of defense litigation 1+ years of coverage/coverage litigation experience Experience in areas of insurance coverage including drafting coverage opinions in one or more insurance lines (CGL, property, professional liability, cyber, intellectual property, etc.) Experience in either or both third-party or first-party claims Coverage analysis and writing experience Experience drafting discovery and pretrial motions required Experience cross-examining plaintiffs and other fact witnesses preferred Experience handling court appearances, depositions, and trial experience a plus Trial experience a plus Superior analytical skills Strong written and oral communication skills Responsibilities Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, legal memoranda, and other legal documents Attend court hearings, depositions, and mediations Collaborate effectively with colleagues across departments and offices, contributing to a cohesive and supportive team environment Investigate claims and draft coverage opinion letters In coverage litigation matters, draft pleadings, motions, and handle discovery Provide clients with insurance coverage advice on a variety of subjects Communicate with clients and provide status reports A variety of factors are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to experience, education, licensure and/or certifications, geographic location, market demands, other business and organizational needs, and other factors permitted by law. This position is also eligible for discretionary bonuses. Final salary wages offered may be outside of this range based on other reasons and individual circumstances. This position is considered full-time and therefore qualifies for benefits including 401(k) retirement savings plan, medical, dental, vision, disability, and life insurance.
