Company : Allegheny Health Network Job Description : GENERAL OVERVIEW: This role performs prescribed radiographic imaging procedures at a technical level under the supervision of a technologist. Competently performs a variety of technical procedures, up to the level of documented competency, that require independent judgement and initiative. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Positions patients and selects anatomic and technical parameters accurately to perform imaging. Prepares for and assists the physician in imaging procedures. (40%) Completes all required documentation for procedures, e.g. regulatory, billing protocol and image distribution. (20%) Implements radiation protection and safety standards. (15%) Assists the Radiology Technologist by attending to the patient's comforts/needs, expediting patient flow and documenting the patient's clinical information. (10%) Maintain adequate supplies for efficient section/department operations. (10%) May also assists in the preparation of contrast media and/or medications within accepted scope of practice and applicable state and federal regulations. (5%) Performs other duties as assigned or required. Corewell Health William Beaumont University Hospital opened on Jan. 24, 1955 as a 238-bed community hospital. Today, the hospital is a 1,101-bed major academic and referral center with Level I adult trauma and Level II pediatric trauma designations. Corewell Health William Beaumont University Hospital has 43 residency and fellowship programs with 454 residents and fellows. Corewell is the exclusive clinical partner of the Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine, with more than 1,400 Beaumont doctors on faculty.

Scope of work  

Under supervision and according to established policies and procedures, performs accurate and efficient diagnostic exams in all areas of general radiology. Technologists must demonstrate good clinical skills and provide the best possible images for interpretation. Applies principles of radiation protection and complies with regulations. Assumes responsibility for designated area and provides clinical instruction as appropriate. Follows Corewell health philosophy of Patient and Family Centered Care at all times.

Qualifications

  • Required Graduate of Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) Accredited Radiography program.
  • Training gained at student level. Required
  • CRT-Radiologic Technologist Registration - ARRT American Registry of Radiologic Technologist 180 Days required
  • CRT-Radiographer (R) - ARRT American Registry of Radiologic Technologist Upon Hire required
  • CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association Upon Hire required Or
  • CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross Upon Hire required
