Essential Job Functions Safely performs provider ordered radiographic examinations, including but not limited to proper patient positioning, immobilization, and utilizing appropriate radiation protection. Sets up and adjusts supportive and immobilization equipment and devices as required by individual cases. Positions and handles patients with a high degree of safety and professionalism Accurately documents patient encounters within Electronic Medical Record (EMR) Determines and selects proper electronic and technical factors which safeguard the patient, x-ray tube, and equipment Maintains clinical and administrative skills to meet patient care and daily operational needs. Collect patient specimens and runs point of care lab tests. Travel to other facilities for BSMH providers or adjusting work hours to meet patient care needs as directed by the manager may also be required. Directs and practices sterile technique to prevent cross-contamination of disease Reports immediately any malfunction, necessary adjustments or repairs of equipment to supervisor Other duties include but not limited to ordering supplies, lab and diagnostic tests, disposes of contaminated supplies, patient registration, scheduling, phone triage, cash handling, check-in/check-out and performing scribing duties as needed basis. Performs any combination of the following duties depending on the area of assignment. Performs at least two separate modalities in Diagnostic Imaging such as: X-ray and either Angiography or Computed Tomography of the following areas: neuro, abdominal, chest and extremities. Assists physicians in performing other fluoroscopic procedures as needed. Transports patients by stretcher, bed, wheelchair, or walking. Provides care for patients during transportation and within the department, if necessary. Assists patients by lifting and moving them off and on the x-ray table. Provides bedpans and urinals as needed. Assures that patients are properly dressed for procedures. Prepares patient for their exam by consenting, explaining exam and answering patient questions. Administers contrast and other preparations as to complete exam in a timely fashion. Cares for patient during procedures by assisting them to restrooms, providing blankets, etc. Monitors patient condition pre- and post-procedure and reports changes in the patient's condition to Radiologist or RN for follow-up. Assists with emergency medical treatment under physician direction. Pulls contrast from Pyxis per protocol and documents contrast in eMar per protocol. Loads the power injector for contrast studies. Technologist may give contrast medias and may flush lines with normal saline contrast/normal saline. Under direct supervision of the Radiologist, the technologist may pull Xilocaine for procedure. Under direct supervision of the Radiologist, the technologist may use heparinized saline to flush catheters. Performs data entry in computer systems necessary for work flow and patient care, such as: ITS, Meditech, PACS, WITT, eMar and Pyxis. Performs related duties such as reporting equipment malfunctions, assisting others, and special assignments. Cleans work area and replenishes supplies. Attends regularly scheduled department meetings and in-services to maintain working knowledge of changes in machines, and protocols,. Maintains CEUs and CPR for license. Performs other duties as assigned. Education: Completion of a two-year Radiologic Technology training program approved by the AMA. Licensure: CRT, ARRT certificates and Fluoroscopy license are required. Current BLS/Healthcare Provider status as per American Heart Association standards required. Valid California Drivers License required. ***$15,000 Sign on Bonus*** w/ 2 year Commitment We are looking for a Certified Radiology Technologist-Mammography to join our collaborative team at Memorial Health! What You'll Do: Performs general head, sinus, chest, abdominal, pelvic, and lumbar computed tomography procedures, as well as specialty procedures as requested; confirms images sent to Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS), sends images to Vitrea as requested by Radiologist; operates power injector; assists with daily quality control procedures (i.e., imaging of phantom, checking contrast temperature and checking crash cart). If mammography certified then performs mammograms; performs and documents quality control procedures (e.g. cassette and darkroom cleanliness, processor quality control, etc.); scans images in R2 unit for CAD assistance; ensures all data has been gathered and placed for interpretation by Radiologist in a timely manner. Maintains competency and current knowledge of all radiographic procedures including Computed Tomography (CT) and/or mammography and surgery imaging to provide high quality diagnostic procedures. Operates all imaging equipment in the prescribed manner to provide high quality diagnostic images, including but not limited to utilizing proper technique, proper positioning of patient for procedure, collimating, shielding, use of lead markers, and the immobilization of the patient using instruction and/or equipment developed for this purpose. Maintains equipment to ensure operational functioning; reports any potential hazards or malfunctions of equipment to supervisor or other appropriate resource; contacts service if warranted by a supervisor; assists with end of shift responsibilities; maintains clean work area. Provides technical radiological services as requested by patient’s physician to assist in the diagnoses of disease, injury and or the detection of foreign bodies through performance of all radiographic and fluoroscopic studies in the department, in surgery, and in other patient care areas. Processes images through the use of the work stations and Computed Radiography (CR) units; assesses quality of images prior to sending them to PACS via workstation or Paxport. Assists the Radiologist and/or other Physicians with procedures directly related to diagnostic/interventional radiology; preparing and maintaining sterile fields/solutions; administers contrast media as delegated by the radiologist; demonstrates documented competency in venipuncture and contrast administration technique as defined in department policy, including properly assessing patient’s existing intravenous lines and proper access of these lines for contrast administration. Also, assists radiologist with stereotactic biopsies and needle localizations. Utilizes the Brevera and Trident to support biopsies and lumpectomies. Scans essential information pertinent to exams that are performed; maintains patient confidentiality; provides technical assistance to physicians as needed, such as assistance with viewing images on PACS, calling reports, printing reports, digitizing or printing images. Maintains equipment to ensure operational functioning; reports any potential hazards or malfunctions of equipment to supervisor or other appropriate resource; contacts service if warranted by a supervisor; assists with end of shift responsibilities; maintains clean work area. Schedules patient procedures, providing pre-exam instructions; verifies patient/caregiver understanding of instruction; maintains patient history files in department utilizing Radiology Information System, following departmental policies and procedures; maintains film files. Requirements Associates or Bachelor’s degree from an approved school of Radiologic Technology, American Registry of Radiology Technologists (ARRT) registered, Licensure in the state of Ohio, Maintains certification in either Mammography or meets the MQSA criteria (registry eligible) in the performance of mammography, two to three years of experience in radiology is required. ARRT registered; current Ohio Radiographer License, Mammography Certificate (registry eligible) and/or Computed Tomography certificate (registry eligible). ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Performs fluoroscopic procedures for the treatment of patients of all age groups, utilizing the guidelines of the professional radiology practice standards. Responsible for all duties related to imaging patient care, file room, general clerical, physician assistance, and other related duties necessary for complete patient outcomes in the outpatient surgery department. Produce x-ray films (radiographs), develop, make copies and fix x-ray films of parts of the human body for use in diagnosing medical problems. Prepare solutions for processing films; Assist in fluoroscopic work; under supervision, make clinical photographs of unusual cases and identify photographs; Maintain equipment and quarters; Monitors patients during the procedure. Surround the exposed area with radiation protection devices, such as lead shields, or limit the size of the x-ray beam to prevent unnecessary radiation exposure. Using instruments similar to a measuring tape, measure the thickness of the section to be radiographed and set controls on the machine to produce radiographs of the appropriate density, detail and contrast. Keep records and files; Make reports as needed and other related duties. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES REQUIRED: Knowledge of modern radiologic equipment and techniques; regional and gross anatomy of the human body; standardized radiologic clinical procedures; thorough knowledge of the hazards of radiologic materials and the safety precautions required; the operation and care of modern radiologic equipment; and the ordering and storing of supplies. Ability to communicate effectively at a level required for successful job performance; administer emergency aid for shock; prepare solution used in processing x-ray film and process film; keep simple records, file film correctly, and compile reports; follow directions; analyze situations accurately and take effective action; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others EDUCATION: (include any licenses or certifications required) High school diploma or the equivalent. Possession of a current valid certificate as a certified Radiologic Technologist in diagnostic radiologic technology issued by the Florida State Department of Health Services. (Successful completion of the work required for a graduate nurse may be substituted for one year of this required experience and training.) or Successful completion of a two-year training program in radiologic technology approved by the Council on Medical Education and Hospitals of the American Medical Association, in collaboration with the American College of Radiology. Knowledge of Word and Excel sufficient to create simple documents such as memos and reports, enter data, copy or cut and paste data and print results. Travel will likely be required.* Duties and Responsibilities: Provides medical services at the scope and level of a Radiology Technician to preserve the health of employees and client personnel. Performs diagnostic imaging examinations like X-rays, computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, mammography, and ultrasound. Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records. Prepares patient for radiological procedure by positioning patient; adjusting immobilization devices, moving equipment into specified positions, and adjusting equipment controls to set exposure factors. Gains patient cooperation by reducing anxieties, providing explanations of treatment; and answering questions. Minimizes radiation to patients and staff by practicing radiation protection techniques, using beam-restrictive devices, patient shielding, and knowledge of exposure factors. Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols; following drug protocols in case of reactions to drugs, such as contrast media, administering first aid, and using the emergency cart. Maintains production and quality of radio-graph or other media by following established standards and procedures; developing radio-graphs; observing radiographic results; and making necessary adjustments. Ensures operation of radiology equipment by completing preventative maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs; maintaining equipment inventories; and evaluating new equipment and techniques. Maintains radiology supplies and inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies; and verifying receipt of supplies. Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations. Other duties and projects as assigned. Qualifications: Must have completed an approved Radiology Technician program leading to a Diploma, Certificate, or associate degree. Must have an unrestricted state license or be American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certified. A minimum of 2 years of recent experience as a Radiology Technician is required. Must have and maintain current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). Must be experienced in performing CT procedures, including contrast exams. Must be able to multi-task, be detail-oriented, be organized, and have excellent verbal and communication skills. Proficiency with computers and common office equipment, as well as with MS Office products required. Ability to adapt to sudden changes and flexibility in work requirements to include potential shift changes based on operational needs and/or command priorities. Strong problem-solving skills to research and resolve inquiries and respond promptly. All healthcare providers must have current clinical experience in direct patient care and have worked a minimum of 6 of the last 12 months in the desired career field. Must be a US citizen or be a permanent resident residing in the US for 3 of the past 5 years. Preferred Qualifications: Current adjudicated Department of Homeland Security clearance. Bilingual in Spanish and English. Physical Requirements and Work Conditions: Work involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods. Summary of Primary Function/General Purpose of Position

The X-Ray Technician performs digital X-ray studies on patients per the orders placed by providers. The X-Ray Technician is a multi-skilled clinical professional who works within the scope of practice to assist in patient care under the direction of the provider.

Essential Job Functions

  • Safely performs provider ordered radiographic examinations, including but not limited to proper patient positioning, immobilization, and utilizing appropriate radiation protection.

  • Sets up and adjusts supportive and immobilization equipment and devices as required by individual cases. Positions and handles patients with a high degree of safety and professionalism

  • Accurately documents patient encounters within Electronic Medical Record (EMR)

  • Determines and selects proper electronic and technical factors which safeguard the patient, x-ray tube, and equipment

  • Maintains clinical and administrative skills to meet patient care and daily operational needs.  Collect patient specimens and runs point of care lab tests. Travel to other facilities for BSMH providers or adjusting work hours to meet patient care needs as directed by the manager may also be required.   

  • Directs and practices sterile technique to prevent cross-contamination of disease

  • Reports immediately any malfunction, necessary adjustments or repairs of equipment to supervisor

  • Other duties include but not limited to ordering supplies, lab and diagnostic tests, disposes of contaminated supplies, patient registration, scheduling, phone triage, cash handling, check-in/check-out and performing scribing duties as needed basis.

Licensing/ Certification

Certification and Registration with ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists)  (required) 

State Licensure (preferred, unless required by the state where the job is being performed)

BLS Basic Life Support – American Heart Association (preferred upon hire, must obtain from approved source prior to direct patient care) (required)

Education

Associate's from an ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) accredited institute (preferred)

Experience

1 year experience in radiation safety and patient care (preferred)

Experience with Radiology Information System (preferred) 

Training

EPIC Electronic Health Record (EHR) (preferred)

Picture archiving communication system (PACS) (preferred)

Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Medical Terminology and the ability to use standard office equipment, required

One year of Medical Assisting experience, preferred

Strong oral and written communication skills, and an ability to collaboratively work with patients, families and teams within a high-volume environment, preferred

Strong attention to details and an ability to multitask without prior instruction or direction, preferred

Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her assigned unit.  

Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development of the life span and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her age, specific needs and to provide the care needed as described in departmental policies and procedures.
