Assists with inventory, maintenance, and ordering of supplies Possess skills pertinent to patient monitoring procedures such as as blood pressure, pulse oximetry, intravenous care and sterile technique. Accurately enters all charges and reviews charge for reconciliation upon exam completion. Physical Requirements: Frequent standing, occasional sitting & walking, lifting of 30-35 lbs. Pushing, pulling, and moving stretchers and imaging machines. Requires manual dexterity using fine hand manipulation to operate transducers, imaging equipment and computer keyboard. Hearing and visual sufficient to perform examinations, observe patients, read monitors and documents, hear equipment and hospital alarms. Close contact with patients having contagious diseases. Exposure to patients injected with radioisotopes, necessitating wearing a lead apron during exams. Frequent contacts with patients, physicians, patients' families, and other personnel throughout the hospital. Skills & Abilities: An in-depth knowledge of anatomy and physiology is also required so the technologist can evaluate laboratory data, past medical history and pertinent symptoms to tailor the radiologic examination to each patient individually in a safe, accurate and timely manner. Ability to acquire and effectively utilize knowledge of a wide variety of Interventional Radiology procedures and equipment. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Performs fluoroscopic procedures for the treatment of patients of all age groups, utilizing the guidelines of the professional radiology practice standards. Responsible for all duties related to imaging patient care, file room, general clerical, physician assistance, and other related duties necessary for complete patient outcomes in the outpatient surgery department. SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Physician/Chief of the Medical Facility EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE: Under direction, incumbents may instruct and prepare patients for radiologic examinations; Determine the most suitable anatomical posture and positions and shield patients appropriately; Prepare patients for radiologic examinations by explaining the procedure, removing articles such as jewelry, through which x-rays cannot pass Positioning patients so that the correct parts of the body can be radiographed. Place the x-ray film under the part of the patient's body to be examined and make the exposure. Then remove the film and develop it. Position and operate stationary or portable radiologic machines and take x-rays images of all parts of the human body for the physician to use in the diagnosis of disease or injury. Produce x-ray films (radiographs), develop, make copies and fix x-ray films of parts of the human body for use in diagnosing medical problems. Prepare solutions for processing films; Assist in fluoroscopic work; under supervision, make clinical photographs of unusual cases and identify photographs; Maintain equipment and quarters; Monitors patients during the procedure. Surround the exposed area with radiation protection devices, such as lead shields, or limit the size of the x-ray beam to prevent unnecessary radiation exposure. Scheduling of services may involve coordination of the patient's clinic appointment, procedural and/or diagnostic services to support the health care providers in providing patient care services and unit operational activities, with upholding the expectations of extraordinary care, mission statement and patient satisfaction. Oversees the release of digital information and ensures the availability of records to the patients, physicians and clinical staff for all studies and procedures via in person, fax, telephone, subpoenas, and legal requests.
