A Brief Overview Responsible for providing clerical and receptionist services fully utilizing multiple computer programs for the Imaging Department. Provides support to technologists by assisting with radiographic exams and documentation, transporting patients, preparing for radiologist visits, and stocking work areas. What you will do Performs clerical/reception duties including answers phones, operates paging system, assists physicians and radiologists, greets arriving patients, files, and processes requisitions/orders. Organizes and maintains files, records and logs. Delivers and retrieves films from storage. Observes patients while technologists leave immediate area for short periods of time. Assists clinical personnel transferring patient to or from beds or chairs, wheelchairs or stretchers. Assists medical records reconciliation of signed orders to performed exams. Contacts patients prior to scheduled day of service to provide exam information, anticipated length of time needed in the department, and answers questions the patient may have. Refers questions to technologist when appropriate. Pre-authorizes scheduled patient exams appropriately and in a timely manner. Assists with staff/student on-the-job training and orientation. Follows specific procedures for creating and dispatching CDs/copies to appropriate parties. Assists technologist in fluoroscopic, diagnostic, nuclear medicine and other satellite areas of radiology. Assists the technologist in positioning patients for mammograms, general radiographic exams and portable radiographs. Essential Qualifications The individual must be able to work the hours specified. Educate patient on exam preparation to achieve the best diagnostic images. Follow policies regarding lead protective devices. Position and instruct patient for particular examination. Use proper supportive devices and angle boards when needed. Use correct exposure factors to produce diagnostic images. Make proper exposure from behind protective barrier or adequate distance from patient and equipment. Be able to differentiate between diagnostic and repeatable images. Follow protocols for administration of contrast. General knowledge of computers and PACS/EMR for job specific duties. RESPONSIBILITIES, EXPECTATIONS & STANDARDS : Maintains confidentiality when dealing with all customers. Must utilize effective problem-solving skills as appropriate. Conveys enthusiasm and sincerity and promotes Landmann-Jungman Memorial Hospital (LJMH) and its services in a positive manner to all customers. Adheres to radiation safety standards related to patient, self and others protection. d. Demonstrates ability to operate and troubleshoot radiology diagnostic equipment. e. Follows established radiology protocols for positioning, technique and safety as required for specific age group. f. Documents treatment and/or patient response to treatment. g. Meets laboratory competencies as required by CLIA, AAFP and other regulatory agencies. h. Participates in HRH proficiency evaluation initially by laboratory consultant and annually. i. Demonstrates proficiency in splinting, phlebotomy, urine drug screen collection, EKG testing or any other technical skill related to the clinic operation. 4. Medication Administration a. Administers medication as directed by provider and documents in EMR per policy. b. Insures records for pharmaceutical distribution are in compliance with regulatory and state standards. 5. Supplies a. Orders supplies as needed for daily operation of the clinic from established vendors to meet required par level. b. Uses supplies judiciously. Education and Experience Required: 1. High School Graduate or GED. 2. Graduate of Limited or Associate Degree Radiology Technologist program, AS degree preferred. 3. A Brief OverviewResponsible for providing clerical and receptionist services fully utilizing multiple computer programs for the Imaging Department. Provides support to technologists by assisting with radiographic exams and documentation, transporting patients, preparing for radiologist visits, and stocking work areas.What you will do
  • Performs clerical/reception duties including answers phones, operates paging system, assists physicians and radiologists, greets arriving patients, files, and processes requisitions/orders. Organizes and maintains files, records and logs. Delivers and retrieves films from storage.
  • Observes patients while technologists leave immediate area for short periods of time. Assists clinical personnel transferring patient to or from beds or chairs, wheelchairs or stretchers.
  • Assists medical records reconciliation of signed orders to performed exams.
  • Contacts patients prior to scheduled day of service to provide exam information, anticipated length of time needed in the department, and answers questions the patient may have. Refers questions to technologist when appropriate. Pre-authorizes scheduled patient exams appropriately and in a timely manner.
  • Assists with staff/student on-the-job training and orientation.
  • Follows specific procedures for creating and dispatching CDs/copies to appropriate parties.
  • Assists technologist in fluoroscopic, diagnostic, nuclear medicine and other satellite areas of radiology. Assists the technologist in positioning patients for mammograms, general radiographic exams and portable radiographs.

  • Some College Enrolled as a full-time student in an accredited school of Radiologic Technology and be in preparation to be verified and registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists
