SJCRCH The Department of Radiology at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (SJCRH) has established an expansive and multicomponent new initiative for research, development, and validation of novel image quantification and artificial intelligence solutions. The ideal candidates will establish 1) Establish an Artificial Intelligence (AI) Hub and 2) Lead the Image Quantification and Artificial Intelligence (IQAI) Core Lab. The AI Hub is recruiting one faculty level academic researcher. The AI Hub is intended to be an independent lab focused on research, development, and validation of AI solutions in imaging that support the institutional mission, to find cures for pediatric cancer and other catastrophic illnesses. Candidates with experience and a track record of research, development, and validation of AI solutions in imaging will be considered. The goal is to develop bench to bedside AI solutions for pediatric cancer and other catastrophic illnesses. Examples of solutions may include generative AI to develop patient and family-friendly radiology reports, foundational AI models, tumor segmentation with lifelong learning, development of an AI orchestrator to support multiple AI solutions, etc. All research faculty positions require investigators to pursue independent funding for promotion. Substantial resources are available to build a successful program. This position will be research focused, in collaboration with clinicians, basic scientists, and other researchers. Academic-Industrial Partnerships and innovative AI solutions are encouraged. There is extensive experience and support for dissemination and commercialization of technologies. The IQAI Core Lab is a new initiative that builds upon the infrastructure of an existing institutional core lab, with the additional of new software engineers, data scientists, and research analysts. The IQAI Core Lab will be an institutional core lab that supports research investigators within the Department of Diagnostic Imaging and from other departments. The image quantification arm of the IQAI Core Lab will support quantitative radiomics from research faculty. A separate Tumor Imaging and 3D Analysis Lab (TIDAL) will support clinical trial interpretations and 3D analysis for research and clinical needs. The AI arm of the IQAI Core Lab will provide image software engineering, data science, and generative AI to support research faculty. Substantial resources are available to build a successful IQAI Core Lab, including the hiring of additional personnel over the next two years. Candidates should have the following: a PhD or equivalent degree and proven productivity as a principal or co-investigator in basic and translational AI research. Faculty appointment will be commensurate with demonstrated experience, publication and grant productivity, participation in academic activities nationally and internationally, and leadership skills. The essential duties of this position include: 1. Build an AI Hub for research, development, and validation of AI in imaging solutions that support the institutional mission. 2. Facilitates transition of care to PACU. Proficient in the use of emergency equipment. Checks code cart and emergency equipment according to policy. Documents emergency intervention according to policy. Competently manages the care of the surgical patient. Follows policy for Interventional site verification. Adheres to universal precautions. Maintains BLS. Creates and maintains a sterile field. Handles specimens according to policy. Maintains competency in the role of the circulating nurse. Maintains competency in the role of scrub nurse. Maintains proficiency with unit specific equipment, trouble shoots and reports malfunctions promptly. Utilizes down time constructively. Completes all department specific competencies. Provides equipment and supplies based on patient needs Anticipates the required supplies and equipment based on surgeon's preference cards and patient's needs. Ensures all equipment has been checked by Bio-Med and is functioning safely, i.e. no frayed cords, no alarms Operates all equipment according to manufacturer's instructions. Removes malfunctioning equipment from the Interventional room and informs the equipment specialist. Communicates availability of supplies to ensure that they are reordered as necessary. Ensures the emergency equipment is available and functioning always. Demonstrates knowledge of nursing responsibilities regarding anesthesia administration. Able to describe ASA classification code for the Radiology Interventional patient. Identifies agents and routes used in administration of anesthesia. Identifies risks of all phases of anesthesia and verbalizes nursing actions in response to any complications. Implements nursing action in transferring the patient according to prescribed plan. Identifies patient prior to transporting according to policy. Determines appropriate method of transport to the Interventional Room and transfer of patient from stretcher to the Interventional table. Re-evaluates transfer methods post-operatively. Communicates post-procedure with receiving unit to ensure safe continuity of care. Utilizes all safety devices according to policy. Creates and maintains a sterile field: Demonstrates knowledge of aseptic technique and corrective action if needed. Inspects sterile items for contamination prior to opening and maintains sterility when handing items onto field. Performs counts: Performs surgical counts according to hospital policy and procedure. Verbalizes course of action required when counts are incorrect. Dispenses drugs and solutions according to policy: Identifies with scrub nurse the drug/solution and expiration date prior to dispensing. Follows labeling policy. Job Description

The Staff Technologist provides patient services using imaging modalities, performs diagnostic procedures. Applies principles of radiation protection and the ALARA principle, exercises professional judgment in the performance of procedures, provides patient care essential to imaging procedures, recognizes patient conditions requiring immediate action and initiates life support measures, establishes and maintains a good rapport and professional relationship with fellow employees, other departments and Medical Staff. Performs imaging services “on call” as needed.

PRN Status Clause:

This is a PRN as-needed position, you must be available to work at least 12 hours bi-weekly, as needed according to departmental demands. You may be required to work additional hours if requested by your supervisor to accomplish work objectives. Work hours may vary (increase or decrease) depending on the needs of the unit.

Additional Job Description

Education:

Graduate of an accredited program in Radiologic Technology.

Licenses/Certification:

Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists or eligible. SC Radiation Quality Standards Association (SCRQSA) license is required. Advanced American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) registration is preferred. Basic Life Support (BLS) with the American Heart Association (AHA) is required
