Educate patient on exam preparation to achieve the best diagnostic images. Follow policies regarding lead protective devices. Position and instruct patient for particular examination. Use proper supportive devices and angle boards when needed. Use correct exposure factors to produce diagnostic images. Make proper exposure from behind protective barrier or adequate distance from patient and equipment. Be able to differentiate between diagnostic and repeatable images. Follow protocols for administration of contrast. General knowledge of computers and PACS/EMR for job specific duties. JOB SUMMARY Per Diem Staff Physician- Interventional Radiology provides medical care to large array of patients by providing minimally invasive image-guided diagnosis and treatment of disease. As assigned by the Chairman, the Physician will provide service at the following UM/ JMH locations: Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, UHealth Tower Hospital, Jackson Memorial Hospital, at satellite centers in Broward county (Plantation and Deerfield Beach) and the Lennar Center, which is located in Coral Gables on the University of Miami campus CORE JOB FUNCTIONS Interpret interventional radiology imaging studies and perform interventional procedures. Be responsible for evaluating patients both pre and post intervention Supervise performance of technical personnel. Evaluate and consult new referrals and follow up patients in IR clinic. Exercise quality assurance as related to the practice of interventional imaging. Provide interventional imaging consultation as requested. Provide emergency patient care as required in the setting of an Interventional radiology practice. Position Highlights

General hours of work: Monday - Friday (Varied days as department needs coverage). Involves required on call rotation for evenings, weekend, and holidays.

SUMMARY: The Radiology technologist performs a variety of radiology tests, procedures, and related duties and operates associated diagnostic equipment. Utilizes scientific principles as well as technical, procedural, and problem-solving aptitudes for day-to-day radiology operations, quality control, quality assurance, procedure/instrument maintenance and corrective action, and radiology related continuing education.

QUALIFICATIONS: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Associate degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Student technologists approved based on recommendation from accredited radiology program director.

CERTIFICATION, LICENSURE, and/or REGISTRATIONS:

  • Registered ARRT preferred.
  • Student technologists approved based on recommendation from accredited radiology program director.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Understand and follow the policies and procedures of the hospital with particular attention to the individual policies and procedures set up within the radiology department.
  • Use dosimeter to monitor employee exposure.
  • Operate x-ray and computed tomography equipment to make diagnostic radiographs of designated body parts under the supervision of a director of radiology, following radiologist protocols.
  • Educate patient on exam preparation to achieve the best diagnostic images.
  • Follow policies regarding lead protective devices.
  • Position and instruct patient for particular examination.
  • Use proper supportive devices and angle boards when needed.
  • Use correct exposure factors to produce diagnostic images.
  • Make proper exposure from behind protective barrier or adequate distance from patient and equipment.
  • Be able to differentiate between diagnostic and repeatable images.
  • Follow protocols for administration of contrast.
  • General knowledge of computers and PACS/EMR for job specific duties.
