Responsibilities include: Positions patients and adjusts equipment for all routine radiographic procedures. Instructs patients regarding procedures. Observes patients for vital signs during examination. Follows prescribed safety standards in operating radiologic equipment. Uses radiation protection according to department policy and procedures. Selects length and intensity for radiation exposure by adjusting equipment on individual patient basis. Examines imaging studies for technical quality and diagnostic usefulness. Authorizes release of patients upon completion of imaging examination. Develops and processes images, if applicable. Delivers diagnostic images to radiologists for reading/interpretation. Administers contrast media correctly and provides appropriate instruction. Provides input for equipment and supply purchase decisions. Recognizes emergency situations; initiates life support measures for patients as necessary. Maintains patient records. Assumes responsibility for supplying area according to departmental needs. Enhances professional growth through education programs, conferences, and workshops. Attends required meetings and participates in committees as requested. Assumes responsibility for portions of quality assurance program. Maintains patient confidentiality. Performs related work as required. Responsibilities

  • Ensures appropriate use of screening tools for patients prior to the performance of any procedure.

  • Demonstrates competence of the Radiology Information System (RIS) and PACS.
  • Always complies with HIPAA Privacy and Security requirements and is compliant with required annual training.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years experience.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Current ARRT registration with an advanced credential in MRI required.
  • Applicants not credentialed in MRI will have 12 months to obtain MRI certification. This certification period will begin at the completion of the MRI department orientation. Failure to obtain MRI certification in that timeframe may results in termination or position reclassification.
  • Active license issued by the State of Tennessee may be required.
