Performs proper warming up procedures in a manner that will not result in damage to equipment. Duties include performing and demonstrating proficiency of techniques, principles, and procedures for breast imaging. This role must be able to work independently to produce images for the Radiologist to interpret the exam, as well as work with mammographers to maintain safety and standards determined by leadership. Graduate from an accredited Radiology Technologist program, IEMA licensure, and clinical experience performing Mammograms is required. Must be current with the number of Mammography images to fulfill the IEMA requirements and have a current registration in Mammography through the ARRT (must be working towards within 2 years of training in Mammography). JOB DUTIES: (This list may not include all of the duties assigned.) Greet patients with eye contact, introduce yourself, and verify correct patient by using proper patient identifiers. Verify correct ordering provider and exam. Explain exam and educate patients on procedure. Perform mammography exams including 3D, additional views such as coned-compression, magnification and from-below images. Assist the Radiologist in special exams such as core biopsy and cyst aspirations. Protocol upcoming schedules; evaluate the history, ordering provider and previous Mammograms. Document information in EMR. Verify that the exam on the work list is the correct exam and that the accession number matches the number on the order. Monitor film quality for all mammographers. Complete daily, weekly, and monthly quality control tests as necessary for all monitors and sites. Maintain protocol book for recommended mammography views. Lead and assist in training for new mammographers on protocols and techniques. Monitoring of abnormal mammography findings and ensuring proper follow up and documentation is completed in EMR. This includes, but not limited to, entering pathology results, entering biopsy clip information into EMR, and ensuring follow up appointments are completed in a timely manner. Attend radiology leads meetings quarterly. Lead quarterly mammography meeting. Perform related work as required. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Graduate from an accredited Radiology Technologist program Current with the number of Mammography images to fulfill the Illinois Emergency Management Associate requirements Evidence of annual completion of health related courses and/or seminars with a certificate and/or CEU’s in accordance with ARRT Current registration in Mammography through the ARRT (must be working towards registration within 2 years of training in Mammography) TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Demands include sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, stretching and lifting up to 50 pounds. Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities:

OFFICE VISITS:

  • Assesses and monitors changes in the physical and psycho/social needs of patients utilizing the nursing process

  • Educates and counsels patient and/or caregiver with provisions for follow-up

  • Prepares the patient for and assists in complex procedures and treatments

  • Administers and documents all medications including IV therapy accurately

CHARTING:

  • Patient charting is entered into the EMR accurately and in a timely manner

  • Provides clinical direction to the support staff (LPNs, Medical Assistants)

MISCELLANEOUS:

  • Responds to emergencies as needed

  • Checks code cart weekly, if applicable

  • Stocks supplies as needed

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum education: Associate Degree; Bachelor's Degree is preferred

  • NY State RN License

  • BLS Certified; ACLS certification required

  • Critical Care experience required

  • IV certification preferred

  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment

  • Completes competency skill checklist within first 3 months

  • Vascular/surgical experience highly preferred

  • EMR experience is a strong plus

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Pay Range: $43.61 - $54.52 Hourly
