Takes preventative steps to avoid unnecessary exposure to radiation such as properly shielding the patient and using as low a dose as possible. Uses manual technique if necessary. Uses proper markers on each radiographic exam and uses electronic markers as appropriate. Performs quality assessment on each exam regarding proper positioning, exposure, and optimal viewing specifications. Troubleshoots radiology unit, hardware and software issues as they arise. Disinfects the radiographic equipment between each patient and cleans room daily and as appropriate. Observes standard precautions, airborne, droplet, and contact precautions if applicable. Ensures all exam protocols are properly arranged by rotating and flipping images in the appropriate sequence. Exam Processing Check patient in and create appointment in Epic, ensuring all applicable orders are correct and performed. Coordinates the flow of information and images from Epic, Cannon, Shimadzu, E-rad and Clario. Evaluates image quality, accurate demographics, and ensures images are sent in the appropriate format to the Reading Radiologist. Modifies and edits patient demographics in Clario if needed. Processes and create copies of digital images for patients and requesting providers. Paperwork, Billing and Reporting Provide patient education on BCHC to ensure eligible patients are enrolled. Identifies Medicare patients and prepares an ABN. Ensures all Radiology procedures are accounted for with correct orders, diagnosis and CPT codes. Coordinate with Imaging Associates and accounting to ensure invoices are charged and accounted for. Identify patients who are part of programs where grant money may be applied. Ensures final routine x-ray reports and images are available in Epic or Clario.
