Positions patients under the X-Ray machine and regulates technical factors to produce radiographs. Assists radiologists in X-Ray procedures; prepares patients, draws contrast media, mixes barium and maintains daily work log.Position and transfers patients to and from x-ray table using proper safety techniques. Select proper technical factors for examination. Develop film by automatic or daylight processing. Assist physician in administering opaque media and during fluoroscopy exams. Evaluates lab values prior to administering contrast agents. Determines appropriate type and dose of contrast agent to be administered. Monitors patient during exam for adverse reaction to contrast media. Obtains optimum images during exam/procedure. Sets/adjusts radiographic equipment. Positions patients to obtain diagnostic images per established protocols. Sends images to PACS for interpretation by radiologist (where applicable). Documents information about patient care, exam, and patient history in appropriate record (where applicable). Verifies/enters correct order into RIS/HIS Documents appropriate patient history in PACS system. Documents any exceptions to the established guidelines. Scans appropriate documents into PACS system. Facilitates correspondence with all departments to assure procedures are done promptly (where applicable). Works with Centralized Scheduling, nursing units, and ER (if applicable) to accommodate STAT or ASAP orders. Coordinates patient care with other departments within Imaging/radiology Maintains equipment and workstation in optimum condition. Performs daily QC on radiographic equipment. Assure adequate patient care and office supplies are maintained. Implements downtime procedures when necessary (where applicable). Coordinates rescheduling of patients during equipment downtime. Initiates established downtime procedures. Other duties as assigned. Primary Duties and Responsibilities: For CT Diagnostic Imaging studies that are scheduled to be performed at UMHC/SCCC during Saturday daytime hours only patients who meet the following criteria are to be scheduled. Out -patients who do not to require pre-medication for prior IV Iodinated Contrast Allergies. Out-patients who do not require IV hydration for any type of renal impairment. Out-patients deemed high risk due to medical history as determined by the Radiologist or the referring clinician. The Voluntary Faculty Radiologist/Staff Physician assigned on Saturday will triage or answer any questions related to the CT Imaging Study that the CT Technologist may have. The Voluntary Faculty Radiologist/Staff Physician/ will cover the patients who are being injected with IV Iodinated Contrast in the event the patient experiences a Contrast Media Reaction. In the event of a mild to moderate IV Iodinated Contrast Media Reaction UMHC/SCCC will provide Nursing support and the Radiologist will evaluate the patient, write appropriate medication orders, write a progress notes, and will evaluate the patient prior to discharge home from UMHC/SCCC as well as providing discharge instruction. In the event of a severe IV Iodinated Contrast Reaction the Voluntary Faculty Radiologist/Staff Physician will provide initial response, assessment and treatment, and the UMHC/SCCC Rapid Response Team will be activated to take over care and disposition of the patient. In the of event of a Cardiac or Respiratory Arrest the UMHC/SCCC Code team will be immediately called and the Voluntary Faculty Radiologist/Staff Physician will provide BLS along with the CT Technologist until the UMHC/SCCC Code team arrives to take over management of the patient.
