Job Details The Radiology Technologist performs x-ray scans of patient's internal anatomy to aid physicians in diagnosing illnesses, diseases, or injuries. Executes radiologic services in compliance with relevant laws and regulations and provides consultation advice to patients and radiology professionals. Delivers patient care and education before, during and after diagnostic imaging procedures. Job Description Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson. Appropriately positions radiographic equipment or x-ray film to produce images with necessary detail or contrast in order to assist with diagnosis and treatment. Explains radiographic procedure to the patient, obtains complete and accurate history relevant to the examination to being performed. Communicates effectively with the patient. Provides staff and patient protection in accordance with prescribed radiation safety standards, including placement of shields/aprons in order to limit radiation exposure. Implements and monitors local, state and national regulations, standards, requirements and clinical protocols for radiologic imaging services. Maintains x-ray equipment by performing scheduled cleaning/tests and documents results. Maintains and updates patient and study information to ensure billing and RIS/PACS accuracy; handles patient records while maintaining patient confidentiality. Performs other related technologist duties as directed by the lead technologist, supervisor or manager, including those related to quality assurance and/or control. Responsible for maintaining continuing education required for licenses and job position. Other duties as assigned. Other duties may be assigned. • Promptly greets patients when entering waiting area, exam room, and laboratory or x-ray room.• Consistently communicates with patients on wait times; provides direction to the next step in the treatment process• Provides solutions to patient problems and recognizes and seeks help in emergent / hazardous situations.• Provides timely follow up regarding lab and x-ray results.• Executes follow-up calls with sense of urgency.• Assists front desk personnel with patient check in/out procedures when necessary.• Obtains and accurately documents patient vital signs and weight, takes brief history, past medical, family and social history current medications, allergies and other pertinent historical information as appropriate.• Assists with patient transfers.• Assists with procedures directly supervised by the provider.• Assists in lab procedures under the supervision of the provider.• Prepares patients for radiologic procedures and follows established clinical and regulatory procedures in regards to patient safety and care; including proper radiation protection and shielding techniques.• Ensures that equipment is in proper working order and reports any malfunctions to the Regional Operation Manager or provider on duty.• Follows documentation procedures and completes required documentation related to patient visit.• Maintains examination room and stocks if necessary.• Adheres to infection control/safety guidelines and patient confidentiality policies.• Perform phlebotomy, injections, medical procedures and laboratory procedures appropriate for level of training under the direction of a provider.
