Mechanical Supervisor The Mechanical Systems Supervisor is responsible for ensuring a high quality of routine care and continuous improvement of the University of Mary mechanical systems. Primary responsibilities include developing, implementing, and maintaining all aspects of mechanical systems, including but not limited to preventative and corrective maintenance, systems programming and controls, management of the mechanical staff, implementing improvement projects and renovations, managing contracted services, and support of other activities necessary for continued plant operations. At least three (3) calendar years of verifiable experience as a certified law enforcement officer or its military equivalency (Master-at-Arms, CGPD, Security Forces Specialist, etc.); all three (3) years must have occurred within the last seven (7) years. The experience must have included general arrest authority. Language Skills: Must have the ability to read, write, speak, and understand English. Must possess the ability to understand, explain, interpret, and apply rules, regulations, directives, and procedures. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Must have a valid driver's license from state of residency and a safe driving record for the past five years; Must receive clearance from the Department of Justice. Must have completed or graduated from certified Federal, state, county, local or military law enforcement training academy and able to provide certification as proof. Works as a leader on the IT Applications Team to determine how technology can best be used to enable or enhance business processes. Maintains and supports SAP ERP application. Leads complex technology projects through the entire project lifecycle to their conclusion while maintaining high customer satisfaction and ensuring cross-project requirements are identified and detailed for cohesive design and end user experience. Provides guidance and design direction to teams and departments to meet business needs. Proactively researches, recommends, and assists in implementation of emerging technologies and/or vendor solutions as they relate to company's best practices. Responsibilities Essential Functions Collaborates with business, development and other analyst teams to write technical and functional documentation to describe program development, logic, coding, and corrections; including end user documentation (training) to describe new or enhanced functionality. Reviews, analyzes, modifies, writes and/or executes thorough change request test plans and checklists to ensure that business system changes are working properly, existing processes remain unaffected and the needs of the users are met. Identifies, tracks, monitors and communicates on project-related issues, scope changes, variances and contingencies that occur during projects. Provides consultation of advanced technical expertise in the integrated business applications processes. Collaborates, leads and directs work effort of vendors (both on and offsite). Provides vendor performance feedback and validation of expenditures to IT management. Proactively researches, recommends, and assists in implementation of emerging technologies and/or vendor solutions as they relate to company's best practices. Communicates best practices across areas of responsibility and participates in continuous improvement of IT processes. Develops and maintains effective working relationships with customers, vendors, and others related to the company. Actively participates in team meetings and group discussions. Provides guidance to team to create high quality functional business requirements. Provides guidance and design direction to teams and departments to resolve functionality and implementation issues. Adheres to Border States Electric SDLC best practice guidelines and application change management procedure. Follows security best practices to ensure the safety and integrity of applications. Provides input on the development of best practices for the IT organization. Provides support by working escalated incidents as part of the IT Help Desk to ensure business operations are not interrupted or delayed and during off hours as needed. Promotes and maintains the identity and reputation of BSE, ensuring customer satisfaction and addressing problems and complaints as they arise. Non-essential Functions Participates, creates, contributes and/or facilitates ongoing training for application functionality / best practice / lunch and learn topic related training in correlation with job duties. Maintains business continuity and disaster recovery test documentation as it relates to the functional area(s). Assists in the maintenance and publication of SAP Help Documents. Works effectively as a team with all BSE personnel. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor or designate. Qualifications 4 Year STEM Degree or equivalent experience. Minimum 7 years of SAP Material Management and integrated business processes experience. Advanced knowledge of SAP structures, configuration standards, object dependencies and tables Familiar with related languages including but not limited to SQL, ABAP, Java and .Net is a plus. Advanced understanding of relational databases and client-server concepts and commonly-used concepts, practices and procedures. Firm grasp of business processes and systems linkage including experience with integrated systems. Mechanical Supervisor

The Mechanical Systems Supervisor is responsible for ensuring a high quality of routine care and continuous improvement of the University of Mary mechanical systems. Primary responsibilities include developing, implementing, and maintaining all aspects of mechanical systems, including but not limited to preventative and corrective maintenance, systems programming and controls, management of the mechanical staff, implementing improvement projects and renovations, managing contracted services, and support of other activities necessary for continued plant operations.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities Include:

  • Provide direct, daily supervision of staff members, including reassignment of resources based on changing priorities and working conditions.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain a robust mechanical program for all routine preventative maintenance items, including but not limited to HVAC, refrigeration, boiler and propane plants, plumbing, fire protection, etc.
  • Manage work order process to ensure safe, efficient, and timely completion of University repair needs.
  • Install, program, and maintain systems, specifically including but not limited to building automation controls and other related systems
  • Plan, schedule, and implement renovation and improvement projects.
  • Manage tools and equipment; including inventory of parts, supplies, and other materials.

Desired Minimum Qualifications, Education, and Experience Include:

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 10+ years of experience as an HVAC technician (two of which may be waived by appropriate schooling in technical college)
  • 4+ years supervisory or foreman experience
  • Master Mechanical and/or Master Plumber license is preferred
  • Upholds and supports the Christian, Catholic, Benedictine mission of the University of Mary
  • Supports the ongoing implementation of Ex Corde Ecclesiae, the apostolic constitution on Catholic colleges and universities.
  • Builds a culture of ready and earnest hospitality in the Office of Physical Plant and throughout the university, in accord with Saint Benedict's admonition that all be received as Christ.

Knowledge and Skills Required:

  • Ability to maintain a valid driver's license
  • Ability to communicate clear, concise verbal and written messages
  • Ability to present a professional image
  • Ability to read and implement blueprints and specification books
  • Ability to supervise and lead staff including scheduling, training, mentoring, performance observations, disciplinary actions, etc.
  • Thorough knowledge of components and equipment, installation, troubleshooting, etc.
  • Experience in installation of projects
  • Experience in system installation, controls, and administration
  • Experience with all building mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, etc.
  • Highly safety conscious and the ability to follow all necessary safety standards
  • Knowledge of safety equipment usage (e.g. AED, fire extinguishers, etc.), proper cleaning methods, and safety measures essential to the work environment
  • Knowledge of applicable laws, rules, regulations, codes, and/or statutes related to mechanical systems
