Office Location: Bismarck, ND Apex Engineering Group has an opening for a Survey Technician located in our Bismarck, ND office.  This is an opportunity to participate in establishing and expanding Apex Engineering Group’s services in the region.  The Survey Technician will primarily work under and report to a Survey Crew Chief and perform typical surveys in the field  including topographic, boundary and construction surveys on various civil engineering projects including highway and urban roadway projects. Ideally the Survey Technician will also be capable of assisting design teams by using or be trained to use various CADD applications such as AutoCAD or Microstation when survey workloads fluctuate.  Typical Tasks and Duties: Work with a Survey Crew Chief or Land Surveyor while performing land surveying services including plane and/or geodetic surveys for construction, topographic, right-of-way, and control survey projects. Gathers field survey data through the use of conventional surveying and GPS methods. Prepares accurate field notes, drawings and records change in conditions while in the field. May be required to assist with construction observation duties on civil engineering projects. Learn and follow surveying methods and standards as required by state and public agencies. Participates in pre-survey planning meetings with project managers and engineers on a consistent basis by providing updates and progress during all phases of projects. This position may lead to a more prominent role as a Land Surveyor or Crew Chief which will include becoming responsible for other survey personnel on a project and reporting to project managers and engineers. This position will require the initiative to think independently and make rational judgment calls. Effectively communicate with contractors, engineering staff and project owner representatives in the field. Understand and follow company employee handbook and mandated safety policies. Perform responsibilities in a conscientious, legal and ethical manner with a strong attention to detail. Must be able to work independently and in a team environment. Capable or familiar with operating GPS, robotic and total station survey equipment. Familiar with survey data collection and construction survey methods. Experience with CADD programs such as AutoCAD/Civil-3D or Microstation/GeoPak software is considered a plus. Perform simple surveying calculations using engineering calculator, laptop computer, and coordinate geometry software. Knowledge of Microsoft Windows/Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint) required. Must be willing to interact with people and work in team environments. Must be detail orientated, self-motivated with strong interpersonal and organizational skills. A valid driver’s license is required or the ability to obtain one.    Physical Requirements:  Ability to operate a computer under normal ergonomic office conditions. Required to work in an outdoors environment including construction sites and close proximity to traffic, noise and dust. Will require prolonged periods of standing and walking to perform some of the typical tasks and duties associated with topographic and construction surveying. Ideally the Survey Crew Chief will be capable of writing legal descriptions for boundary surveys, certifying right of way and subdivision plats, perform title and deed searches, that are typical for satisfying professional land surveying and industry standards.  This position will report to the Survey Department Manager located in our Fargo office.       Typical Tasks and Duties: Provide land surveying services for construction, topographic, right-of-way, easements, subdivision plats and control survey projects. Gathers field survey data through the use of conventional surveying and GPS methods. Researches existing record information, including record maps, plans, deeds, easements and right of way documents. Has a general knowledge of, or if licensed, may be required to write or review legal descriptions associated with right of way documents, subdivision plats, and record of surveys.  Prepares accurate field notes, drawings, and records of changes in conditions while in the field. Delegates survey tasks to other survey technicians under his/her direct supervision. May be required to clear vegetation, dig holes, and pound stakes with hand tools. Learn and follow surveying methods and standards as required by state and public agencies. Admissions Representative The University of Mary in Bismarck, ND is seeking an admissions representative for the Office of Enrollment Management. This position is responsible for the recruitment of students in an established territory for admission to the University of Mary.  Begin your career at the University of Mary! Essential Roles and Responsibilities Include: Recruit qualified prospects and achieve stated recruitment goals for a designated territory Manages a travel schedule that includes events and high school visits to generate leads and recruit qualified applicants for admission and enrollment Meets with prospective students and their parents and family members on-and-off campus Assists prospective students with the application process and supports other departments as necessary to meet student needs Ensures that each admitted student receives personal verbal and written communication, which may include extensive telephone and email contact. Records a summary of all pertinent telephone and email contact within the Radius/Jenzabar software systems Attends and actively participates in admissions staff meetings, training programs, and planning retreats. Provides input regarding the development of department goals and strategic plans. Extensive outreach to prospects in an assigned territory including telephone, email, and texting campaigns to ensure that each applicant receives personal verbal and written communication that supports meeting enrollment goals. Documentation of all types of pertinent contact is mandatory. Provide accurate and timely admissions data entry using our Slate CRM tool Establish and maintain effective working relationships with the campus community, the public, high school personnel, agencies, and others Maintains a professional appearance and demeanor, both while travelling and in office, to build a positive perception of the university Desired Minimum Qualifications, Education, and Experience include: A bachelor’s degree in marketing/sales or related field is required Previous experience is preferred Upholds and supports the Christian, Catholic, Benedictine mission of the University of Mary Supports the ongoing implementation of Ex Corde Ecclesiae , the apostolic constitution on Catholic colleges and universities Builds a culture of ready and earnest hospitality in the Office of Enrollment Management and throughout the university, in accord with Saint Benedict’s admonition that all be received as Christ Knowledge and Skills Required: Advanced interpersonal skills necessary to work effectively and interact with prospective and current students, staff, and faculty Ability to work independently and with a team of colleagues Ability to travel extensively Possess a valid driver’s license Safeguards the confidentiality of student information and departmental administration by exercising discretion in communicating information to faculty, staff, parents, alumni and current and prospective students, and in handling departmental records and files and similar confidential materials Must demonstrate the highest professional demeanor and ethics while representing the University of Mary We thank you for your interest in the University of Mary.
