DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : Administer, pour, pass, and document all routinely prescribed medications, except by the injection route, and except for PRN medication which must be given only when so instructed by a licensed nurse. The person holding this position is delegated the responsibility for carrying out the assigned duties and responsibilities in accordance with current existing federal and state regulations and established company policies and procedures. FUNCTIONS : Administer and document regularly prescribed medications which the medication aide is permitted to administer only after personally preparing (setting up) those medications to be administered. Document in the resident’s medical record those medications given. Observe and report to the licensed nurse reactions and side effects of medication commonly administered to nursing facility’s residents. Take and record vital signs prior to administration of medications which could affect or change the vital signs. Administers PRN medications under the instruction of a licensed nurse. Must document administration of all PRN medications according to state standards in all areas of the chart. Administer oxygen per nasal cannel or a non-sealing face mask only in an emergency. At discretion of charge nurse, count narcotics, give all routine prescribed narcotics, and document same on individual sheet and medication sheet. Apply specifically ordered ophthalmic, optic, and nasal medication. Regarding PRN orders, document in nurses’ notes symptoms indicated for the need of the medication and the time that symptoms occurred. The licensed nurse shall initially document on the appropriate medication record from which medications are administered the authorization for the medication aide to crush the medication. LIMITATIONS OF THE POSITION: It is of utmost importance that the medication nursing assistant be aware of the limitations of the position, which include, but are not limited to, the following: May not administer medications by the injection route, including hypodermoclysis, intradermal, intramuscular, intravenous, and subcutaneous. May not administer medications used for intermittent positive-pressure breathing (IPPB) treatments or other methods involving medicated inhalation treatments. May not administer PRN medications unless authorization is obtained from the facility’s nurse or the resident’s treating physician. May not administer the initial dose of a medication that has not been previously administered to the resident. May not calculate for administration any resident’s medication dose. May not crush medications unless the initial prior authorization is obtained from the facility’s licensed nurse. May not administer medications by way of the nasogastric tube. May not receive or assume responsibility for reducing to writing, any verbal or telephone orders from a physician. May not order residents’ medications from a pharmacy. May not apply topical medications that involve the treatment of skin that is broken or when a specific aseptic technique is ordered by the attending physician. QUALIFICATIONS : License/Registration :  Possess a current acknowledgement card and/or certificate issued by a state agency. Continuing Education:   As required by state law and regulations Education:  Successfully completed a state-approved school of medication administration Experience :  At least one year’s experience as a nursing assistant preferred. Standards :  Function in accordance with accepted pharmaceutical and nursing practices as set forth by state and facility policies and procedures. Professional Memberships :  Not required, but encouraged. Other :  Willing to cooperate with licensed nurses; be aware of limitations and not attempt to exceed these limitations; work with the residents. Working knowledge with Microsoft Windows/Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) required. Must be willing to interact with people and work in team environments. Must be detail orientated, self-motivated with strong interpersonal and organizational skills. A valid driver's license is required or the ability to obtain one. Must be willing to travel and spend time out of town while fulfilling RPR duties or other business related responsibilities. This person will report directly to the Transportation Sector Leader. This position is considered a strategic hire and will provide an opportunity to build a traffic team by expanding services to public and private clients. Key responsibilities will include being involved with technical work for transportation and municipal projects requiring traffic engineering and operations analysis. This position will also require participating in the development of new opportunities, prepare effective technical proposals and active collaboration on projects with other project managers.   Typical Tasks and Duties: Lead traffic operations studies, corridor studies, traffic impact studies, multi-modal studies, and comprehensive plans. Independently perform traffic engineering related calculations, analysis, and design tasks. Independently write technical specifications, reports, and other correspondence to a variety of audiences. Lead the design efforts in the role of engineer-of-record on traffic and transportation project types including traffic control, traffic signals, signing, pavement marking, and ITS. Efficiently work with technicians to assemble complete and accurate engineering plans Perform independent checking of the design work of other team members. Mentor and oversee the work of less experienced team members. Work efficiently to meet deadlines and complete projects within a given amount of time. Demonstrate a strong ability to meet project budgets and schedules. Participate in business development and marketing activities related to traffic with existing clients and potential new clients. Prepare technical proposals for project pursuits with other project managers and market leaders. Contribute to project pursuit efforts by participating in interviews for specific projects that have a traffic component. Participate in transportation team, management, and company staff meetings and seminars when appropriate. Assist with the development of budgets for traffic engineering elements of projects. Responsible for hiring and recruiting other traffic staff as needed and approved by the Sector Leader. Effective communication skills with the public will be required in settings such as public meetings, informational meetings, construction notifications, etc. This position will require the initiative to think independently and make rational judgment calls. Understand and follow company employee handbook and mandated safety policies. Perform responsibilities in a conscientious, legal, and ethical manner with a strong attention to detail. Must be able to work independently and collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team environment. Participate in professional organizations and community leadership programs. Travel and out of town stays may be required; may work overtime especially during deadlines for submittals. The Sr. Traffic Engineer may assume other responsibilities as assigned by the Sector Market Leader. Other duties as assigned by the supervisor. Qualification Requirements:  A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering. Professional Engineers License or ability to be licensed in North Dakota and Minnesota within 6 months. Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) certification. 5 or more years of traffic engineering and transportation planning related experience. Experience with transportation projects and public agencies located in North Dakota and Minnesota is preferred. Strong project management skills and experience. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must be detail orientated, self-motivated with strong interpersonal and organizational skills. Proficient using Microsoft Windows/Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint). Traffic modeling experience using Synchro/SimTraffic, HCS, Vissim, and other traffic analysis software. Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil3D, MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer A valid driver’s license is required or the ability to obtain one. Physical Requirements:  Ability to operate a computer under normal ergonomic office conditions. Required to occasionally work in an outdoors environment. May require prolonged periods of standing and walking to perform some of the typical tasks and duties associated with construction observation or surveying. Required to lift and move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 25 pounds. Must work scheduled and required hours.
