Job Description: Site Mechanic Position OverviewJob Title: Site MechanicDivision: TransloadReports To: Transload Division Manager / On-site ForemanClassification: Full-Time (On-call/Overtime required) Position SummaryThe Site Mechanic is responsible for the general maintenance, preventive upkeep, and repair of critical transload assets, including RBT Conveyors, Shuttle Wagons, fleet vehicles, and facility infrastructure. The ideal candidate ensures maximum operating efficiency, maintains strict adherence to safety protocols, and upholds operational accuracy and punctuality.Note: This description outlines a general category of jobs. Employees may be assigned other duties in addition to or in lieu of those described, and duties are subject to change at any time based on location and company needs. Key Responsibilities Equipment Maintenance & RepairPerform major and general repairs on all Transload Equipment.Maintain transload conveyors and rail equipment to ensure optimal operating efficiency.Coordinate, install, inspect, repair, and maintain electrical, mechanical, and related facility systems.Conduct routine cleaning and inspections of equipment on a strict daily or weekly rotation.Logistics, Administration & ReportingMaintain accurate, up-to-date maintenance logs for all equipment, tracking and recording all activities.Submit comprehensive daily shift reports and maintenance summaries to supervisors at the end of each shift.Monitor shop inventory to determine and order required parts, materialism, and supplies.Provide routine updates on job and project progress to the On-site Foreman or Division Manager.Safety, Professionalism & CultureMaintain a neat, orderly, and hazard-free work area.Ensure a high level of crew professionalism, job accuracy, and punctuality.Uphold strict confidentiality regarding all proprietary Company and client information.Comply with and promote knowledge of occupational hazards and mandatory safety precautions.Marginal FunctionsExecute special assignments and projects as requested by supervisors.Function as an equipment operator during specific service jobs.Complete all mandatory company-assigned computer-based training.Qualifications & SkillsPhysical RequirementsAgility & Movement: Frequent standing, walking, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, twisting, and crawling.Coordination: Excellent eye-hand and eye-hand/foot coordination; precise manual dexterity and sense of touch.Sensory Deficits: Acute near/far vision, reliable depth perception, color definition, and functional senses of hearing and smell.Strength & Environment: Ability to lift 50 lbs or more routinely and work comfortably in extreme outdoor environments.Technical & Core CompetenciesTechnical Communication: Ability to interpret and execute complex oral and written instructions.Reporting: Proficiency in writing technical maintenance reports and logs.Mathematical Proficiency: Ability to apply practical arithmetic, algebra, and geometry (fractions, percentages, ratios, weights, measures, surfaces, volumes, and angles).Computer Literacy: Average proficiency in required company software, word processing, and spreadsheet/database applications.Preferred Qualifications (Not Required)Experience servicing Cummins Diesel and John Deere Diesel engines.Hands-on welding experience (Arc or wire-feed welding). Working ConditionsSchedule: Frequent overtime required; must remain on call 24 hours per day.Environment: Split environment between outdoor transload yards (all weather conditions) and an office setting.Mobility: Regular driving of units within the yard for load-outs, occasional transport of units to/from job sites, and operation of light company vehicles.Hazards: Frequent exposure to extreme heat, extreme cold, high noise levels, mechanical equipment, fumes, odors, waste, and heavy vibrations
