The principal role of the Computer Lab Apprentice is to train and develop skills learned from the Computer Lab Supervisors and Technicians. Regular tasks include installing, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining and/or upgrading computer hardware, along with installing, upgrading, testing, and troubleshooting software. The Computer Lab Apprentice provides weekend staff coverage, and works with supervisors and technicians during the week. We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Computer Systems Analyst to join our team supporting the digital infrastructure at the Susquehanna nuclear facility. This role is responsible for the maintenance, enhancement, and reliability of existing computer-based systems, including networks and digital plant systems. The incumbent will work independently with minimal supervision and significant autonomy, often serving as the subject matter expert (SME) for critical systems. Interface with cross-functional teams such as Operations, Maintenance, Security, and Training to ensure seamless integration of system solutions. Develop and maintain documentation, technical procedures, guidelines, and support tools. Ensure all system development complies with SSES Software Quality Assurance (SQA) requirements. Manage projects by analyzing, developing, integrating, testing, and implementing system solutions, often serving as project lead. Stay informed of industry best practices and emerging technologies to ensure system relevance and performance. Support and comply with all safety, security, and environmental policies and procedures. What You Have: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering/Technology, or related field; or equivalent experience. Demonstrated experience performing computer system maintenance and hardware/software installation. Strong technical, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Effective written and verbal communication and interpersonal abilities. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a high-stakes, team-oriented environment. Must successfully obtain and maintain Nuclear Security Clearance. Preferred Qualifications: Proven experience in developing computer requirements, documentation, and test plans. Strong knowledge of digital system architecture, hardware/software integration, and networking technologies. Working knowledge and experience with: Microsoft Windows, Linux, VMware Active Directory management Relational Databases (MS SQL, Access) Networking fundamentals and protocols Familiarity with Cyber Security requirements in a nuclear or highly regulated environment. POSITION SUMMARY The Computer User Support Specialist provides advanced end-user IT support for AF TENCAP, managing Tier 1 and some Tier 2 service desk operations across multiple security classification levels. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Analyze complex end-user technical issues, interpret requirements, and recommend optimal solutions to maintain operational continuity across multiple classification levels. Manage the AF TENCAP help desk Tier 1 and some Tier 2 operations, oversee ticket workflows, and coordinate escalations to higher tiers or external agencies. Lead troubleshooting efforts for hardware, software, and network access problems, ensuring timely resolution and compliance with security protocols. Assess service desk performance metrics, drive process improvements, and optimize customer service delivery. Facilitate onboarding/offboarding processes, ensuring accurate account provisioning, equipment allocation, and access control.
