The Department of Computer Science at Brandeis University seeks an instructor for the course COSI 136a: Automatic Speech Recognition, a 4 credit course, in Fall 2025. This course is open to instructor modification, within the overall focus on exploring speech recognizer core components and their underlying algorithms and surveying real applications, with coursework that involves students building and evaluating a variety of ASR-related applications using state-of-the-art models and tools. The course will be taken by intermediate and advanced students in the two year Computational Linguistics MS program, along with interested CS undergraduates and graduate students. Candidates with a PhD in hand by the start of the course or soon after in CL/NLP or a closely related field, and teaching, research, and/or industry experience in state-of-the-art advancements in NLP, will be given preference. REQUIREMENTS
Candidates must have IP experience including patent drafting and prosecution and a background in computer science, electrical engineering, or similar. Design engineering experience with a chip company is a plus. Preference for candidates with networking, software, 3G/4G/5G wireless network, or the like. Candidates must be admitted to the USPTO and have prior legal experience. Bar licensure in California is a plus.
