About the role

Attain is seeking a Director of Consumer Data Science to support the growing needs of our suite of consumer mobile applications. You'll own the application, maintenance, and evolution of advanced machine learning techniques to the cash-flow-based credit decisioning model that powers our earned wage advance product, Klover. You'll have boundless other opportunities to apply data science to improve business outcomes across our app portfolio: transaction categorization, paycheck detection, fraud scoring, churn prediction, and more.

What a typical week might look like

  • Hands-on contribution to the development of our the ML models at the core of our EWA product, driving for speedy and outstanding execution
  • Lead by example and define best practices for robust and efficient machine learning service development that includes data processing, feature engineering, model development, model deployment, and in-production support, etc.
  • Collaborate with a cross functional team of data analysts, engineers, product managers and business stakeholders to cost-effectively deliver advanced ML models with quality, efficiency and precision
  • Identify new areas to apply data science models and algorithms to optimize the business
  • Drive the consumer data science roadmap and priorities

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years direct experience working as a Data Scientist on relevant business problems
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field; advanced degree in a quantitative field (PhD preferred)
  • Strong expertise in developing and deploying machine learning models (especially credit decision models) in production
  • Solid understanding of the underlying mathematical foundation of machine learning models
  • Proficiency in Python
  • Experience with cloud computing services or platform (GCP preferred)
  • Strong SQL skills
  • Familiarity with version control and peer code review systems
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and embrace new technologies, applications, and approaches
  • Willingness to roll up your sleeves and wear multiple hats across the data science team, based on the needs of the business
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to explain technical topics to both technical and non-technical audiences
