Investigators at The MIL are reimagining and harnessing technologies available today, while inventing the solutions of tomorrow and are aspiring to create a legacy of insight and impact and to be a trusted voice in digital health, technology and transformation. The Research Assistant Professor will serve as the MIL site expert in bioinformatics setting the strategic vision for the group, leading the development of data analysis approaches, and implementing bioinformatics methodologies to support the needs of the DIHDS/MIL research team. Faculty members in the Department of Informatics and Health Data Science and The Media and Innovation Lab are required to actively support the department chair and lead research, educational/mentorship, and service outreach, policy and ethical initiatives related to informatics, digital technology, and health data science. MSLs are field-based healthcare professionals to our customers. About the Role: We have an exciting opening for a Science Operations Manager to lead our Science Operations Office located at University of California San Francisco in San Francisco. The office is located at the UCSF Mission Bay Campus next to Gladstone Institute, and near the Chase Center. At HHMI, Science Operations Managers serve as the first point of contact and operational liaison to assigned HHMI research laboratories and our partner Host Institutions. These roles play an integral part in championing and upholding HHMI’s policies, practices, and procedures. Champion and constantly work to improve administrative processes • Collaborate with department leadership, Science leadership, the SOO team, and fellow Science Operations Managers (SOMs) to ensure adoption and compliance with standard policies, procedures, processes, and technologies to promote consistency. • Prepare annual budget for SOO. Monitor laboratory budgets providing oversight and consultation to investigator/delegate. With the guidance of the Regional Business Manager, perform various fiscal/budgeting services for Investigator labs such as personnel forecasting/transfers, encumbrance monitoring and financial audits. • Partner with various Operational teams, including Procurement, People & Culture, Finance, and others to support coordination between labs and responsible teams for facilitating: • Lab procurement needs and ordering, as well as monitor and approve activities such as expense reimbursements, graduate student payments, and capital equipment requests • Visa processing, personnel changes, salary planning, among other HR processes. • Facilitation of Material Transfer Agreements (MTAs) with labs, hosts, and Office of General Counsel (OGC) and handle intellectual property issues as they arise. • Work with both the Host Institutions and HHMI to lead the opening and closing of HHMI research labs, lab and office space changes, and lab renovation requests. • Lead fixed asset inventory. • Serve as back-up for other SOMs during leave and vacancies. Train and onboard science operations staff as needed. What You Bring: • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or a related field, or equivalent combination of experience and education required • A minimum of seven to ten years of experience in an operations/administrative leadership role, including responsibilities for purchasing, human resources, and budget management • Proficiency working with information systems and technologies - ideally Workday, Ariba Procurement, Office 365, SharePoint, and Zoom. • Prior experience serving as a relationship manager focused on leading and influencing others, with a consistent record of building and maintaining strong networks to connect the right people to accomplish goals. • Experience working in a matrixed environment with geographically dispersed staff, colleagues, and direct management. • Experience with successfully supervising and coaching your team • Excellent analytical, organizational, and critical thinking skills and strong, sound judgment • Ability to create, analyze and report on operational and financial metrics to monitor progress and drive improved performance. • Experience in process improvement, project management, and change management is highly desirable. ERG is hiring highly motivated Engineering/Science Group Managers (or Department Managers) to oversee and lead a team of scientists, engineers and technicians in the development, design, and execution of technical research projects for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA's) Office of Research and Development. Research activities will include decontamination and consequence management research; development and validation of measurement methods, source emission characterizations and data collection; research in areas of atmospheric sciences, physical, chemical, biological, toxicological, and human and ecological exposure; development, evaluation, and application of air quality simulation modeling in in the Fluid Modeling Facility/Meteorological Wind Tunnel; and other related research activities. Activities will include management of specialized laboratories and machine shops including fabrication machine shops, Metrology laboratory, and other specialized analytical and microbiological laboratories. The successful candidate will be responsible for strategic planning, resource allocation, project prioritization, and team development, ensuring high-quality delivery of technical solutions. This individual will act as a key liaison between upper management, cross-functional teams, and stakeholders, while ensuring compliance with EPA on-site health and safety and quality assurance standards and best practices. They will write work plans, quality assurance project plans, health and safety plans, and reports for work being performed by ERG. Job Description: Leadership & Team Management: Lead and mentor a team of junior, mid-level, and senior scientists, engineers, and technicians, providing direction, feedback, and support for career development Set team goals, performance standards, and development plans Foster a collaborative and innovative team culture that encourages continuous improvement Project Management:Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of projects from conception through completionEnsure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet quality standardsCoordinate with cross-functional teams, including design, product management, and manufacturing, to align goals with overall project objectives Resource Allocation:Allocate and manage inter-departmental resources effectively to ensure optimal project executionIdentify and address staffing needs, including recruitment, hiring, and onboarding of new employeesMonitor resource utilization and adjust workloads as needed to maintain efficiencyImplement upper management directives for maximizing operational efficiency Strategic Planning & Process Improvement:Develop and execute long-term strategies for the department, aligned with the company's vision and objectivesEvaluate and improve existing departmental processes and workflows to increase efficiency and outputStay up to date with the latest trends, technologies, and standards, and implement best practices to maintain a competitive edge Budget & Cost Management:Manage the department budget, including costs for personnel, materials, and equipmentEnsure cost-effective solutions and improvements in processes without compromising on quality and health & safety Stakeholder Management:Act as the key point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, ensuring transparency and effective communication throughout the project lifecycleProvide regular updates to senior leadership on project progress, team performance, and key metrics Qualifications and Skills: B.S. degree in Environmental/Mechanical/Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Environmental Science, or a related field. Experience in lieu of a degree will be considered Aptitude and interest in science, technical work, mechanical equipment, and air quality Extensive experience (10+ years) in providing on-site research support and leadership for the EPA's Office of Research and Development Experience in writing scientific, technical, quality assurance, and health & safety documents Extensive experience in implementing organizational quality assurance plans and quality management practices Extensive experience in implementing client and organizational health & safety practices Proven track record of successfully leading teams and delivering complex projects Experience in project management, process improvement, and resource planning Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a high-performing team Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work across departments and with external stakeholders Ability to pass background checks and initial and random drug screening $80,000 - $135,000 a year ERG offers competitive salaries and excellent benefits, including health and dental insurance, life insurance, long-term disability, educational benefits, FSAs, a generous 401k plan, profit sharing, an EAP, 11-20 paid vacation days per year, 10 paid holidays per year, 56 hours or more of sick leave (based on the state you work in) per year (pro-rated for part-time) and more. Instructional Leadership

  • Assist the Principal in providing exemplary leadership to all school community members to achieve outstanding performance in preparing each student for college
  • Assist the Principal in developing and communicating strategic school systems, culture, and vision, and building a plan to achieve that vision
  • Assist the Principal in leading all aspects of Data-Driven Instruction (DDI), Leading Professional Development (PD) and Observation & Feedback (OF)
  • Assist the Principal in implementing effective assessment systems and using data to inform decisions; curriculum development and assessment; and ensure consistency within the school program and alignment with state and other rigorous standards

 Teacher Coaching & Evaluation (Science & Mathematics)

  •  Assist the Principal in providing school-wide leadership and the Executive Director in any directed district-related responsibilities 
  • Assist the Principal in conducting daily teacher observations and provide real-time feedback to move the needle on student achievement
  • Assist the Principal in leading faculty to ensure that all staff are providing well-managed and rigorous daily lessons, reasonable and effective daily homework, and productive after school tutoring
  • Assist the Principal in holding teachers accountable for meeting a high bar for student performance including requirements for special education accommodations and IEP modifications in partnership with the Special Education Team
  • Be willing to Co-Teach or Lead at least one class, as it relates to Math and/or Science

Cultural Leadership

  • Assist the Principal in building a joyful and rigorous school culture
  • Assist the Principal in providing fostering consistency in academic and behavioral expectations
  • Assist the Principal in collaborating with school staff to support students' academic and socio-emotional development
  • Ensure that traditions and rituals that support the school's college mission are built and maintained, grade by grade, year to year

  • Assist the Principal and teaching staff members in appraising the performance of all students 
  • Assist the Principal and the child study team in the coordination, delivery, and supervision of special education and student services 
  • Assist in the supervision of students in the cafeteria(s), halls, bus area(s) and other locations where students congregate 
  • Make disciplinary judgments for students; assign detentions or other appropriate disciplinary measures.
  • Keep accurate records of student disciplinary action and report the same to the principal 
  • Communicate regularly with families, ensuring they are kept involved with and held accountable for their children's performance and correspond about school policies, trips, and events
  • Respond to family concerns promptly and effectively

  • NJ Principal or Supervisor Certificate, or equivalent  
  • A Master's degree (required)
  • Experience as a Teacher, Instructional Coach, Dean or equivalent leadership role required

SKILLS: 

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office  (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
  • Proficiency using computers, printers, copy machines, and fax machines
  • Excellent organizational, verbal, and written skills
  • Ability to travel for programming, residency and development opportunities
